Vacation information
Small group tour, ideal for solos & couples:
Small group travel is not large group travel scaled down. It is modelled on independent travel – but with the advantage of a group leader to take care of the itinerary, accommodation and tickets, and dealing with the language. It’s easy to tick off the big sights independently – but finding those one-off experiences, local festivals, traveling markets and secret viewpoints is almost impossible for someone without the insider knowledge gained from years in the field. Those with a two-week vacation, a small group tour will save valuable planning time.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
Exploring on foot is one of the best ways to minimise impact on the environment and this eight-day walking vacation follows coastal and woodland paths in beautiful the Triglav National Park. One of the oldest parks in Europe, designated since 1924, it is a strictly protected area in accordance to preserve important ecosystems and biodiversity. We are based for the week at Lake Bohinj located away from the crowds at Lake Bled, it is a beautiful setting, unspoilt and more authentic. Taking short transfers to the start of each walk the focus is time walking and enjoying the natural environment. We make use of the excellent public transport available, using the chair lifts to access the higher peaks and taking local buses ferry across Lake Bohinj to get us back to the hotel.
The tap water is drinkable in Slovenia so customers can fill their re-usable water bottles at the start of the day and at water water fountains or streams during the walks to reduce the need for bottled water.
As a travel company we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key, and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage.
People
We stay at a small friendly family-run hotel, in typical alpine chalet style, offering great Slovenian hospitality. By staying in a Lake Bohinj an area that is less visited, we are helping to disperse tourist throughout the country and provide economic benefits beyond the main tourist site of Lake Bled.During the walks we visit the small farming villages of Srednja Vas, Studor and Stara Fuzin, witnessing the traditional way of life in this area. There is the opportunity to sample local food and drinks along the way and in the mountain huts, we also shop at local stores for picnic items.
As a company we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We’re members of the UK travel industry body AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.
