4.5 out of 5 stars

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Watching the sun set whilst 300m up in the air over the sea cliffs in a paraglider.
An absolutely magical experience.
2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
If you are unsure of anything, just ask.
You will always get a swift and courteous response.
3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
It felt good to support a small family business. The accommodations were off
grid and I particularly liked the bucket for collecting waste shower water, with
which to feed the plants. Overall, the place was low key or discrete. You would
hardly know it was there if you weren’t looking for it.
4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
A very pleasant and relaxing vacation, with very friendly staff and guests. The
island has a rugged beauty to it, and I would definitely recommend the
tandem paragliding experience.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Geology of the volcanic landscape & collecting fresh eggs for breakfast
from the site chickens.
2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
It's windy. Sometimes very windy, but breathtaking nonetheless.
3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We stayed at an off grid eco resort. However, we flew there and everything has to be imported. So not really to the environment but yes to the local economy.
4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Relaxed. Energised. Enthralled.

All properties here are "Off the National Grid" and give guests the opportunity to experience firsthand, living with solar panels and wind turbines and using the latest renewable energy systems. We have installed the most up to date energy systems on offer, and they work very efficiently. The system in "Finca de Arrieta" is the largest on Lanzarote and runs on a 48 Volt system and has no problem powering the 12 dwellings on site. Other Green credentials include use of Grey water, Led lighting, solar pool heating, use of well water for pool, A+ class Fridge, on site recycling we separate glass, metal, paper and plastic, organic fruit and vegetable local produce boxes and being within walking/cycling distance to local amenities.Other environmental practices we follow:
- Waste reduction - We encourage recycling and have bins locally. Any organic waste can be given to our chickens.
- Conserving water - We ask client to be use water sparingly.
- We use our own well water which is used for the swimming pool, we also use our grey water on our palm trees.
- Conserving electricity – We use only Wind turbines and solar panels
- Encouraging wildlife -We have planted many native trees and bushes to encourage birds.
- Building materials - the entire retreat has been built using stone from the 30,000 meter estate.
- The well and water tanks which are on the land and originally used for irrigating the farm land have been restored.
- Measures to educate staff & guests about our environmental practices.
- We educate guests/staff and local schools on the eco energy system provided.
- Office practices - We have low energy lighting, use laptops, reuse paper, recycle waste.
- Onsite company van is a low consumption 49cc 3 wheeler.
We have a hybrid electric Toyota Prius available for guests to use instead of a regular petrol hire car.

People
All the staff are people resident in the island so we create employment in the area. Local stone and trades men have helped bring the retreat to a beautifully finished paradise. We promote rural tourism and encourage our guests to eat out locally, visit local markets and use local amenities such as shops and sports facilities etc. We also encourage them to purchase local products and offer an optional local produce grocery box for arrival (additional charge).Popular similar vacations
