Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
Sponsoring trees is what we love doing. It is a national campaign which every Ethiopian plants trees every year especially during the rainy season of July and August. So for us, a trip means that we can sponsor at least 100 seedlings. This will have a lasting impact on the country's effort in resisting drought and preventing soil erosion which will also help ensuring our food security. We encourage travelers to bring their water bottles and use them refilling purified water instead of using plastic bottles.
Unless otherwise it is necessary, we use ground transportation instead of flights and walk as much as possible during city tours.
All our vehicles are latest types and are serviced regularly thus create very less emissions.
We strictly follow also aware visitors of park regulations to protect the environment and wildlife. We have a policy of waste disposal, camping regulations where applicable, and traveler’s code of conduct that we make available to visitors before the start of the trip.
People
Also beyond taking pictures and just enjoying the trip, we encourage travelers to see ways to give back. Sometimes, there are small things that make a big impact. For example they can bring and donate footballs and volleyballs to rural schools that have limited access to such things. This brings the children together, is fun and another reason not to miss school. We take travelers to local restaurants and all stay at lodges/hotels owned by the locals. All the money is spent locally which goes long way to help improve local economies and generates several employment opportunities.
In each local, we prefer small dining places over the big hotels or restaurants; small coffee shops, cooperatives, and fair trade shops over the big touristy ones. We love taking tourists to local markets where the locals go. And as part of the trip, if there is time to spare, we take them to places where they can exchange skills, it could be cooking, weaving, black smiths etc where everyone can learn something.
