Zeleno Pleso hut was very special, the setting was out of this world, I thought I was dreaming! Read full reviewReviewed on 05 Jan 2018 by Alicia Moreno
Dog sledding and the hike up to the hut were very exciting activities but I would say that all organised activities were great. We all throughly enjoyed it! I really rate our guide Dana. She looked after us very well, and helped with every detail! I will miss her! Read full reviewReviewed on 04 Jan 2016 by Paula Stevens
The whole thing was excellent. My children loved learning to ski and the dog sledding, but I think my favorite was the winter walk on New Years day. Read full reviewResponsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
All of our activities have a common goal to minimise the negative impact of tourism on the environment and provide a professional service, with the highest level of respect for the client, and also for nature, monuments and communities. We organise tours for small groups who can experience a real adventure first-hand, which in mass tourism and large groups is simply not possible.
With such a purposeful connection with the local communities that you will visit, we are able to provide more pleasant experiences to understand the local customs, way of life and culture.
We prefer family run hotels to big international chains, and we can organise lunch with a local family or farm and school visits, the opportunity to buy traditional products from local craftsmen and other activities, all with the goal of creating a close connection with the local community. By using local services in sports, culture, entertainment and cuisine you will also be making a valuable contribution to the local economy.
Nature is a tremendous asset to us all, so we strive to maintain the diversity of local ecosystems and the beauty of nature for future generations. We take care to ensure that our itineraries do not interfere negatively with the environment in protected areas, national parks and buildings of historical significance. During our stays we take care to avoid damaging nature, such as by harming plants and animals, or littering. We also take care to maintain the natural tranquillity of the areas we visit.
People
AccommodationTo support the locals in every region that our vacations are based, or go through, we make sure that the accommodation used is family run hotels and pensions rather than international hotel chains. This way we support local, small hoteliers that are reliant on their familys income from tourism.
Local Staff
Where possible we like to employ local guides to lead our groups. By adopting this approach travelers get the best possible leader with expert local knowledge and it indirectly supports the local economy. This is our contribution to the fight against high unemployment, which in Slovakia is now over 14% due to economic recession.
Shopping
Some kind of shopping usually makes a part of every vacation. This might be food, presents for your loved ones or just perhaps a small souvenir for yourself. To support the local economy and small businesses we support shopping at family run shops and local markets rather than big supermarkets. We inform travelers where and why to buy locally produced goods such as souvenirs, crafts, local traditional specialities and any other products that are available in the region and how beneficial it is to support the local communities by buying their homemade products (wine, cheese, honey, wooden toys, pottery... ).
