Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

WASTE: We will be adapting the itinerary so that there is a chance you eat lunch and dinner in the local restaurants, suggested by local guides. This way you will be able to avoid producing and packaging waste from purchasing snacks at the store. We think it is a big part of the experience to be able to try local food and at the same time take care of the environment. Also, we always prioritize hotels which offer re-filled toiletries in the rooms, instead of packed items, for one-time use only. Make sure to recycle all the waste, in all three cities you will find separate bins so you can act responsibly while traveling. One important part is also having with you a re-usable water bottle to avoid purchasing water in the supermarkets.

WATER: As mentioned above, first, and most simple way to save water is by using drinkable tap water. Always check at each location if water is suitable for drinking, but generally it should be in all three cities. You will find also free drinking fountains where you can fill your bottle also between guiding and exploring. Czech Republic is facing a serious drought problem during last few years and they were obliged to change something to avoid catastrophe for farmers and groundwater. We are currently following a project Living water, which focuses primarily on water restoration by revitalizing rivers and floodplains and is making big changes in Bohemian region. Instead of simply building bigger water reservoirs, as government suggests, the environmentalists are determined to seek and put in practice more sustainable solutions.

TRANSPORT: How to better feel and experience the culture, then by being a part of it? We are committed to including walking tour in all city guided tours, as we think this is a worthy direct contact with people, it is healthy and environment friendly. Beside this we would suggest also trying carriage ride in Vienna, where strict rules for being a coachman and taking care of the horses are put in the city laws. As Vienna has a special classical rhythm to the city, carriage ride will surely teleport you some 150 years back to the golden times of this monarchy city.

OFFICE: Unrelated to this specific trip, we want you to know that we are highly committed to reducing all waste also at our office. We collect all waste separately – organic, plastic and cans, paper, glass. We avoid printing any unnecessary documents and the ones we have to are printed on the recycled sheets. All of our employees have a kitchen room with microwave oven and a refrigerator available so that we can bring our lunch with us in a re-usable lunch box or cook it directly at the office, with which we can avoid any packaging waste. Our coffees, teas and other drinks are always served in a ceramic mug or a glass. We use energy–efficient light bulbs instead of regular bulbs. As we have a very good positioned office we can avoid having any 24/7 lights, we always make sure to shut down all devices when leaving the office and we are using a high-tech responsible heating/cooling system with heat pump for air circulation. We are very confident that each individual can make a difference with more responsible behaviour and we want to keep up with a good work!

FRIENDS & NEIGHBOURS: For years now, we are working with local partners on all three destinations. Until now we have become real friends and we are happy to bring our clients to them. In Prague we are working with our beloved Lenka, person full of energy and love for her country. She and her group of guides and drivers are determined to welcome you warmly in the magical environment of Prague. While wandering the streets of Budapest we found a wonderful culinary team which prepares great Strudel, a typical dessert from Hungary. We definitely suggest you give them a visit or even attend one of their workshops. Lots of laughter and delicious food is guaranteed! In Vienna Mrs. Mojca will give you an insight of this wonderful city. She arrived there many years ago and fallen in love with it instantly. As official tourist guide, beside her art history education, she had to do an extensive license for a tourist guide, which is obligatory in Vienna. This way they keep the knowledge of guides in the country on a very high level. She will gladly suggest some wonderful Viennese cafes and other time-worthy locations for your own exploring.

A FAIR DEAL: As all of the people we work with are our good friends we are happy and proud to be able to offer them a good working environment, by adapting the itinerary according to their suggestions and without loosing any of the important things. We know that all of them will offer a high-quality service for which we are more than willing to pay fair price. Only this way we can all keep improving.

LOCAL CRAFTS AND CULTURE: Your guides will give you meaningful tips regarding quality souvenirs which can be purchased directly from the producers so that you will be able to avoid any mass-manufactured items. Without doubt a waiting-line in front of Café Sacher is worth the time and also their delicious store is worth the money when purchasing the famous Sacher Cake or some of other lovely wrapped sweet gifts. A ‘Mozartkugeln’ – sweet pralines are a must-try! In Budapest you surely must try sweet Strudel, but also Goulash, which is one of their national dishes. There are many local taverns where you can try it for a very fair price. You can hardly leave Vienna without attending one of the cultural events, may this be opera or classical concert. The tradition of Mozart, Strauss and other significant composers and musicians can be felt throughout the city.
