Peaks of the Balkans hiking vacation

Peaks of the Balkan is a tour characterized by a lot of hiking and use of local minibuses. We opt out of using rented minibuses as it is very important for us to help the local transportation keep working. We also work with the local families by having their mules help us with the transportation of the bags.

In several of our stops the travelers will be spending the night in sheepfolds. The shepherds have created space to accommodate those who wander in the area and want to rest and eat something. By staying there, we consume fresh dairy products and promote the good quality of the food these people produce. Since there is no local market or company to collect all the products to resell them, we therefore are the only people who get to try these foods.

Since the group will be on the road for several days, we will provide them with personal lunch boxes and glasses so they can use them during picnics and any other time they are invited by the locals to try raki, wine, milk or byrek.

People

In this tour we will be crossing 3 different countries and by doing so we promote and ensure the ongoing collaboration with the local instances, businesses and families. It is very important for us that the communication and work is continuous so that we can provide the best hospitality for our guests.
The families are encouraged to save and pass their traditions on to the next generations as we love to have travelers try their dishes and get informed about the culture in the area.

From visiting these remote villages repeatedly, we have the chance to ask and talk with them about their problems and difficulties they face in their everyday life, and each time we offer our help in accordance with their needs.

Since the early times, we have been focused in collaborating with the families of the area, offering training regarding the hikes, the accommodation and the best practices to have happy guests. The help we get from the community during this trip is highly appreciated.
