Journey to Patagonia and take in the magnificent, expanse of vistas that is the scenery of Torres del Paine. Exploring this wilderness at the end of the world by foot is a fantastic experience for all keen walkers and our itinerary has been compiled to allow not only you, our traveler to get the best out of the trek, but also to ensure that the region is conserved for future visitors. We believe in running trips that adhere to the concept of negative impact (or even positive impact) tourism and this is no exception.

On trek we will be staying at campsites within Torres del Paine National Park. Our entrance fee to the park, along with camping fees, will contribute towards the maintenance and protection of this beautiful wilderness area.

The sale of bottled water contributes to an enormous environmental problem around the world. In addition to the water in bottles, the production of a 1 litre plastic bottle takes 2 litres of water and 200ml of oil. A large proportion end up in limited landfill or discarded in waterways and natural environments. In countries like Argentina and the Patagonia region of Chile, tap water is treated and safe to drink so we encourage all our travelers to please avoid the purchase of bottled water by refilling from the tap.

People

In Santiago, Puerto Natales, Calafate and Buenos Aires we’ll stay in small, locally owned properties, traditional in their style and reflective of the Patagonia region. Likewise when we go out to eat as a group it will be in traditional, often family run establishments who source their produce from the surrounding area. Our aim is to keep the financial benefits that our itinerary brings to the region local, supporting local industry, small businesses and helping to provide employment opportunities. To this end, your group leader, driver (and all of our on the ground support team) will have come from the Patagonia regions through which we are traveling.

Throughout your trip you will be encouraged to take steps to ensure that your journey is environmentally responsible as possible. Your group leader will be on hand to assist with the appropriate disposal of rubbish en route, recycling wherever possible. We also encourage all our travelers to use refillable water bottles rather than purchasing regular supplies of bottled water.
