Vacation information

Small group tour, ideal for solos & couples:
Small group travel is not large group travel scaled down. It is modelled on independent travel – but with the advantage of a group leader to take care of the itinerary, accommodation and tickets, and dealing with the language. It’s easy to tick off the big sights independently – but finding those one-off experiences, local festivals, traveling markets and secret viewpoints is almost impossible for someone without the insider knowledge gained from years in the field. Those with a two-week vacation, a small group tour will save valuable planning time.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The trip to the Atlas Mountains (self organised, rather than the one on offer by the tour manager)

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Take a mini heater to deal with inadequate air conditioning in Morocco. Be prepared for cold showers and generally inadequately maintained hotels.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

To some extent, yes.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Spain good (4 stars), Morocco poor (1 star). I would be happy to comment at greater length. It seems to me that the Moroccan hotels just do not do basic things such as unblock shower heads, make sure air con units are regularly checked and serviced, replace light bulbs when needed and especially when asked!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Traveling through Morocco was wonderful and it would be difficult to choose just one part, but the trip to the High Atlas is definitely one of the most impressive.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Nothing to be worried about, just enjoy the tour and go along with your new friends.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We used only local guides, visited local craftsmanship places and used local transportation.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Excellent

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet and people

On this trip, we use the railway to travel minimising our carbon footprint and providing opportunity to interact with the Spanish and Moroccan people.

In Spain a Spanish leader will meet you and take you all the way to Tangier before the group is met by a Moroccan leader for the later section of the vacation. We choose to run the trip this way to ensure an 'under the skin' experience of each country. As well as this, the leaders will be supported by expert local guides in the cities and at the sites. Local guides provide an intimate local knowledge about their culture and lifestyles that may go unnoticed unless pointed out, as well as ensuring that money is going back into the local economy.

In addition to the above, we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage. As well as this, we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We’re members of UK travel industry bodies Tourism Concern and AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.

As a company we support Cool Earth. Protecting rainforest is one of the most effective actions to tackle climate breakdown. CoolEarth work with indigenous communities empowering them to conserve their forest; keeping CO2 locked in.
