Not possible to generalise from personal experience3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Not for most of it. On reflection we realised that we had lost sight of this original reason for going through Responsible travel. Not sure how easy it is in USA to get away from low wage big business.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

The clients ended up choosing a different itinerary to the one advertised on Responsible Travel opting instead for a self-drive tour of California with a lot of free time to undertake their own activities. However, on this trip we included the following activities that were a more sustainable option:
- Self-guided cycling tour of San Francisco
- Recommended hiking trails in Yosemite NP
- A whale-watching trip from a company that supports local marine conservation
