1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Overall, the stay at Kwandwe was the highlight but of this, I think the trip we went on the day we arrived (despite having been traveling for over 24 hours) was the highlight - within a matter of minutes we were fortunate to see a large herd of elephants, including a few baby ones, and later we saw a pride of lions, to which we got really close!

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Although you might be tired, try and make sure you get out as much as possible while on safari - animals are not always predictable so never assume that the ranger will find what you want to see.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Kwandwe had a great set up, and certainly was investing not only in the local community but was also excellent in supporting conservation. With Mauritius, it's very different but tourism is providing the local population - which is clearly very poor - with a viable alternative career choice given their sugar cane farming is not as prevalent as it once was. Sensibly, the Mauritian government is investing more in conservation and rightly charges tourists a tax to help pay for this.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Certainly exceeded my expectations, but the fact that my wife and children all cried when we finally had to go home demonstrates that everyone thoroughly enjoyed it!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Our trip to South Africa for our family of 7 was simply spectacular thanks to Simon through Responsible Travel. We had a great combination of time in Capetown, days at the safari game reserve in Kwazulu Natal, time at the Indian Ocean, and then relaxation in Durban before heading home. The whole experience was truly a memorable one. If however, I had to highlight an experience, it would be tracking down the animals during the safari at dawn and dusk to catch a glimpse of the way they live in their natural habitat.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

As we were traveling with small children, it is important to do your research but trust your travel agent at the same time. Give them as much information as possible of what you are looking for, so they can tailor your trip around your needs. Simon Mills, delivered exactly this!

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Our vacation gave us the opportunity to see how the locals lived and we as well contributed in a small way to the conservation of water. Experiencing first hand a severe drought with lack of water allowed us to become more aware of how people are truly impacted by something so simple as "water". We visited as well the local townships with the children with an organised tour guide and this was an invaluable experience.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

This was by far the best vacation we have ever planned. It took a lot of planning working together with the travel agent but it paid off in the end. It was a well organised trip and had the opportunity to see the beautiful landscapes and city of Cape Town, explore the wild animal life during the safari in Kwazulu Natal, experience beach life in a small, remote town on the Indian Ocean, and finally concluded our trip exploring the underwater world in Durban and enjoyed relaxation. Thank you for wonderful trip to South Africa! No doubt we will be back again soon.
