Husky sledding - outstandingly good.

The information about what to pack was excellent- take note of it.

Clearly provided employment etc. however fuel for snowmobiles not as eco-friendly as reindeer/dog/self-propelled travel.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Excellent- surpasses expectations. The ‘Jeris team’ went out of their way to be helpful in all regards.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The laughs we had as a couple due to the amount of times we fell over or sank into the deep snow. The picture perfect views and the dog sledging.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Take a tripod for when the northern lights come out and hand and feet warmers especially for the excursions that don’t involve much movement. Also take a refillable bottle as the tap water is lovely.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

A couple of the trips involved the Sami people, like the reindeer trip and they also came to the hotel to sing and tell stories. Apart from the snowmobiles, other modes of transport were either on your own steam or with animals, so yes. The hotel tried to cutback on bottle waste and there was recycle boxes everywhere.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

It was a once in a life time trip, that was fantastic from start to finish. The staff and guides, the food and trips, the scenery were all great.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Both mum and myself are obsessed with snow so for us the most exciting thing was seeing over a metre of snow everywhere when we arrived! Following that I think the husky ride and reindeer sleigh were both amazing experiences.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Hand and feet warmers, especially if it gets below -10' and the snowmobile ride is extremely rough, particularly for the passenger holding on for dear life - my mum lost a nail clinging on and that wasn't even going particularly fast. Also it is extremely tiring and you are grateful for the 2 free days you have at the end of the vacation!

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

I think it benefitted local people in that tourism provides jobs, not too sure how it supported conservation though.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

The most amazing winter vacation you could ever go on, especially if you love the snow!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The most memorable part of our vacation was on both the husky safari when you suddenly burst through the tree line into a frozen lake with nothing but untouched wilderness all around you. It was such an amazing really to be so immersed in your surroundings and involved with the husky's all at the same time.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Book one of the wilderness cabins! When you return from one of the many activities it is just magical to be able to lift a fire, put the sauna on and relax before your next activity or delicious meal! Book this vacation or else regret it is my number one tip!

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

The vacation definitely benefited local people as tourism and reindeer herding is obviously a major source of income for them. However the activities always respected the animals and the environment with little to no carbon footprint as it was all husky, Reindeer or human leg powered!

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

I would rate this vacation as the best myself and my partner have ever had. The location, the organisation, the activities, the food, the service ... absolutely faultless. We want to go back immediately!!! Ten out of ten!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The whole week was wonderful, doing things we'd never done before - cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, a reindeer sled ride, walking across the lake for coffee and cake in the Reindeer café, getting overheated in the smoke sauna and then cooling off with a dip in the icy lake, but the undoubted highlight was being pulled 18km over frozen lakes and through snowy forests by six beautiful and energetic huskies. Relaxing in our own sauna in our cosy cottage at the end of each day's activities was a real treat.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

On the free days, get out on skis or snow-shoes on your own and enjoy the surroundings and the cleanest air in Europe. We were in a group of 14 for activities and on a wilderness vacation it was lovely to experience the quiet and solitude that you can find without straying very far from the hotel. Learn just a few words of Finnish - people really appreciate it if you make the effort and will be happy to teach you a few more. Pay close attention to your guide. Toini, who accompanied us on all of our activities, taught us a lot about the Lappish culture, nature and the environment, and ensured that we got the best out of everything we did.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

In Finland as everywhere in the world, people are leaving the countryside for the cities. Tourism in Lapland benefits the local economy and provides jobs for people who want to stay because they are passionate about their country and their way of life. The only activity which I felt harmed the environment was the snowmobile safari. I am sure that this form of transport is vital for working people, but as a tourist jaunt it is polluting a place that is proud to be the cleanest in Europe.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

I have wanted to visit the Arctic for a long time and had high expectations, which were met in full. It was a wrench to leave at the end of the week and the first couple of days back home I was really missing the snow and ice, the hospitality, and the sheer fun of it - we seemed to spend all week laughing at our first attempts at skiing, at the antics of our dog team, at the ice that our galloping reindeer Tony kicked up in our faces and so many other aspects of an amazing trip.
