The entire cruise was exciting and memorable - new friends, delicious food and wines, wonderful staff. Prepare to unwind and enjoy - it is a fabulous experience! And remember to read everything that is sent to you about the itinerary, the preparation/departure notes etc.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Our spending in the ports and on the islands will have benefited local people. I am not sure we reduced our environmental impacts or supported conversation but I do know we were all very careful not to leave any signs of ourselves behind or to damage anything in nature4. Honestly - the most fabulous week. I loved every minute of it. Fabulous captain and crew, the wonderful Aida, the very comfortable boat, the delicious food and, of course - the stunningly beautiful Dalmatian Islands and their people.Maggie Turner review 18 Sep 2023

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Arriving at locations such as Korkula, Dubrovnik and Hvar by sea; swimming in the clear blue Adriatic on the swim stops ; observing the coastline from the ship as we travelled from port to port. The overall variety on a daily basis from small, out the way harbours to the busier but interesting ports.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Be prepared for the weather - very cold winds ( the Bora), the heat, and the rain, all of which we experienced. The biting cold and clear blue sky even in September needs to be anticipated.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Croatia depends on tourism both by land and sea. Not sure it reduced environmental impact or supported conservation unless the £30 entrance fee to the walls of Dubrovnik counts!4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Exceeded expectations in all respects. It is the best way to see Croatia, learn about it’s history as well having a relaxing time on board between ports. The ship was comfortable and we were well fed and catered for. The staff were excellent.Nazish Klein review 19 Sep 2022
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
The best part of our vacation was being able to relax onboard the ship, floating across the serene Dalmatian coastline whilst watching the beautiful scenery. All the ports were filled with breath-taking views, fascinating history and heritage sites and amazing architecture. We thoroughly enjoyed the swim stops, food onboard and getting to know other like-minded souls.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Bear in mind that there is a lot of walking to do and most of the old cities and ports are on hills, have tiny cobbled streets with many steps to climb. It is also useful to know that the ship's engines make quite a lot of noise, on both cabin decks, so bring ear plugs! However, most days they would only set sail after 5:30 or 6.00am and so we could sleep peacefully until then.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We were happily surprised at finding that Croatia is working hard at reducing waste, plastic, etc. Everything was recycled and they did their best to maintain their environment naturally. Also, their food is resourced more ecologically and I dare say that other Mediterranean touristic countries could learn a lot from them.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
The small ship cruise was excellent! We very much enjoyed it and would rate it 10 out of 10. The cabin rooms were not as tiny as expected, with quite spacious bathrooms, which were kept spotlessly clean. The staff were always kind, courteous and helpful, despite their long hours. The cooks made extra efforts to accommodate my particular dietary requirements. For us, it was a great first time experience cruising on a ship and we much preferred it to the big cruise ships.Tony Thorndike review 14 Aug 2022

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Sitting on deck cruising by wonderful scenery. Docking in picturesque ports and exploring them on foot.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
If possible choose our ship, the Meridian. It was very comfortable and the crew were all wonderful. If you have poor mobility you might find having to climb stairs on the boat (and to cross a number of boats to get to the shore) quite challenging.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Local people were employed on the boat. As far as we know local produce was used in the kitchen (the meals were delicious). We supported the local economy by spending money at each port.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
The stunning scenery, and exquisite small towns of the Croatian coastline.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Very relaxed cruise- excellent crew who were centerd on making sure all passengers enjoyed themselves . Plenty to do and see, and opportunities to ‘do your own thing’ if preferred .3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
No- not especially. We went to gorgeous local ports, but had such huge breakfasts and lunch that we didn’t really do justice for the local restaurant economy . Also- all tours were already included in the price (which was nice for us) but again limited what we could put in to local economy.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Brilliant vacation. Very relaxed - exceptional quality of food for a small boat. Nice bunch of peeps - all friends by day 3 . Croatia is a very beautiful country - well prepared for tourism and proud to show it off.Read the operator's response here:
Hi Helena, thank you for your feedback and I am glad to see how much you enjoyed your cruise.
I was a little surprised and disappointed to hear that you didn't feel there were any positive benefits for the local population. The small vessels we use in Croatia are all owned, operated and staffed by Croatians, mostly from the coast and islands. All the food on board is grown locally, and you will have eaten in restaurants every night, supporting the local economy and again creating a market for a lot of local produce.
All the staff on our small ships have a vested interest in maintaining the pristine environment as their livelihoods depend on it - The beaches and coastline you will have visited are always very clean, and the water very clear and blue. The small islands and ports we visit don't allow larger ships to visit, and these small ships help provide a vital income for the small island communities, while negating the need for a lot of hotel building and other developments that would only be used for 6 months of the year.
The local tours you enjoyed are all run by local guides who have to undergo a qualification process, and they in no way prevent you from putting anything into the local economy - just the opposite as they are providing employment for local guides.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
It was all pretty fabulous, thank you. Loved Korcula, swimming off the back of the boat, seeing the folk dance in Dubrovnik.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
The upper deck cabin with a balcony was lovely and you felt less movement there than down in the dining room/bar. It also meant that when you felt you'd like a little break from people, you could sit on your bed with the door to the balcony open and watch the sea, the islands and the sky drift past. It was very restful.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes in that the crew were mostly local, the village party supported a local farm and the folk dancing helps to bring Croatian culture to new people.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
It was wonderful; restful with a great itinerary. There was enough time for private exploration, but the organised parts of the week were interesting and enjoyable. There was more than enough food and the crew were so warm and welcoming. Aida was an excellent tour host, a fascinating person to talk to.Heather Clare review 23 Oct 2022

The crew was fantastic. The food good. The destinations fabulous. Our cabin very poor. The initial cabin we were allocated was nothing like we had seen online. It was completely unsuitable for three adults and we were forced to pay an extra cost for a separate cabin for the third person. Would never book a triple cabin again and especially a cabin down below.rod champ review 18 Sep 2022

Quite disappointed. Disliked the regimented seating for meals which was always indoors and was very cramped and really not suitable for any buffet style meal (which breakfast always was). The ship berthed alongside other ships each evening, sometimes in a raft of 6 or 7 and on a couple of occasions there was loud party music from the other ships, one in particular, and although the loud music stopped at midnight raucous and loud beaviour continued well into the early hours and there was a degree of swearing and abusive behaviour directed at those who asked for the noise to abate. The following morning the captain of the particulary rowdy ship apologised to me in passing for the behaviour of his 'young guests' who he admitted that he could not control. Meal times were not something we looked forward to and each evening we were very uncertain as to whether we would have a good night's sleep because of the rafting up experience.Read the operator's response here:
Hello Robert. Thank you for your constructive criticism, I am very sorry to hear you were disappointed by your cruise. The problem of noise from another ship is a very rare one as the ships have rules about this, and the captain's do have the right to disembark troublesome passengers. I am glad to hear the captain of the third party ship apologised. The small ports that we use only allow small vessels to dock in port, but due to the restricted space it is usually
required to moor some ships alongside each other. Although not ideal, this does help the local business by bringing a regular supply of customers without the need for building many hotels, and is vastly preferable to having large ships carrying hundreds or thousands of passengers.
The vessels are all locally owned and operated, and are staffed by Croatian families. By eating ashore every night you are giving a boost to the local economy, and most of the restaurants that you will have used use local produce so you will have been supporting the local farms and rural economy on the islands that you visited. Likewise the food on board is almost all local produce.
I am sorry you didn't enjoy your meals on board (I assume that you are not including your evening meals ashore in this?) The regimented seating at meal times is a surprise to me. These vessels have small dining rooms but there is usually plenty of space for everybody. We did have some other clients on this cruise and they made no mention of the dining at all - In fact they rated the cruise very highly so it may be a matter that we didn't manage your expectations so well.

The Money we spent on eating out and buying souvenirs and employing private guides and taxis helped the local people. Don’t think touring on the ship helped the environment. The Croatian people try to preserve their historical sights but they still let people walk the walls in Dubrovnik ?4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Yes, we saw the massive cruise ships and the passengers were being herded around with stickers with numbers on them. They were not allowed to go in local restaurants or shops, so the big cruise ship companies monopolise the guests.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Hello Graham
Thank you for your feedback.
I am surprised to say that you didn't feel your cruise benefitted local people. Almost everything about your cruise was local. The vessel is owned and operated by a Croatian family, all of the crew are Croatian and almost all of the produce on board in grown locally. You will have eaten ashore every night which will have provided a boost to the various small ports and harbours where you moor each evening and the local communities that provide much of the fresh food.
Although we don't monitor the bar prices on board the vessels they are usually very similar to those ashore. As you are moored ashore in the afternoons and evenings if the bar prices were too high most people would simply go ashore for a drink so it isn't usually in the vessels interest to maintain high bar prices.
I am sorry to hear that you were a little disappointed with the food on board, we will take this up with the ship's managers. They usually provide plenty of fresh and local produce, so I hope that wasn't lacking.
I am pleased to see you still rated your vacation as 4**** and that you enjoyed the scenery and Croatia.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
This was our very first experience at cruising so we were very much new to the game. However our impression was positive. I guess that the most exciting and memorable part of the trip was seeing our boat for the first time. For me that was at 6am on the morning of boarding although we could not board until 14hrs. I saw the boat arriving in Split harbour as I was doing my morning jogging / warm up exercises in the port area. Then of course it was boarding the boat soon after 14hrs when we met the crew and some fellow passengers for the first time and in particular the tour manager, Aida.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
In booking a trip like this you are bucking the trend of large ocean going "floating cities" where I can imagine that you are just a passenger number and, if I may say, a source of potential tips. You are electing for a small intimate type of cruise where you are going to end up knowing everyone even if by a pseudonym that you will give them, rather than their real names, as well as the crew who, at least for the voyage, are almost going to become friends of yours.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I would not say that we were a huge benefit to the local people, Of course there were examples to the contrary such as the use of local guides sometimes and events like the peka dinner evening in Kuna but in general I enjoyed the fact that we took at least one meal daily ashore at our cost so this clearly benefitted the local people as we could choose for ourselves where to eat. However the fact that we were there would give local benefit whether it be through port fees, employment of local guides and local spending such as in bars, restaurants, ice creams etc. I also enjoyed visiting more remote places that a small boat allowed and appreciated that the Captain would moor the boat clearly giving due regard to the local environmental balance. We were very lucky to be visiting so close to post COVID-19 so we were often the only people in town.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
As above we benefitted from the post COVID situation. In places like Split, Hvar and Dubrovnik we saw places as they likely are in winter or in low season with no mass tourism. I sometimes think that this was our luck and having been in some places like Malta with 4 big cruise ships in Valletta harbour, I can but imagine what these places are like in high season. Thus we come away with positive memories and will certainly consider this type of vacation again but possibly elect for an early or late season vacation so as to avoid the mass tourism.Belinda Hickman review 2 Nov 2019
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Seeing Dubrovnik was a highlight, we really enjoyed seeing the old town. Our tour of Korcula was brilliantly delivered and cries of 'follow the mistress' caused great amusement for the rest of the week. The Oyster farm at Ston was very interesting and a nice 'alternative' activity.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
The vacation can be as sedentary or active as you like. Lots of different things to see and do across the stops for the week. Take every opportunity.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Local tour guides were used at each location and we were encouraged to support local businesses. I'm not sure that sailing in this manner is particularly beneficial to the environment but the use of plastic water bottles on board (2 per person per day as a minimum) was excessive and completely unnecessary. Other boats had water coolers with large bottles for people to fill up their drinking bottles so I'm not sure why ours did not.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Visit to Hvar - lovely town. It was nostalgic for me as I'd had very happy times there 30 years ago! I like the way the cruise allowed plenty of time to potter around and explore after providing an initial introduction2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Yes, benefited local people - arranged and managed by Croats with local knowledge. The experience of the cruise manager as a resident of Dubrovnik before the war and her knowledge and sensitivity enriched the experience Time to eat and spend in the various islands benefited local economy - but impact of mass tourism on Dubrovnik awful - this is recognised as a general challenge4. 1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Hard to say. The cook on board Meridijan was excellent! Our lunches were like little gourmet meals. Our guide, Tanya was excellent, and the ports of call, views from the ship, walks, swimming, and bike tours were fantastic. I will say that the least likable part was Dubrovnik. I'm glad I went, but I had no idea how crowded it would be in October.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Be flexible, learn some Croatian words, particularly please and thank you, and get up early in the morning if you want to really see Dubrovnik. It is kind of overrun with tourists, including me.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I think it benefited local people because we ate at local restaurants and used local ships, guides, and paid to go into museums. By itself, I think the ship was relatively environmentally friendly. It had one engine, used electricity efficiently, it did not motor at extravagant speed, and there was lots of concerned expressed for water conservation. However, the fact that to accommodate all the people who book such cruises, like me, there were anywhere from a dozen to twenty similar sized boats every night in the major ports means that a lot of energy is being used and a lot of bad impact is made on the environment. I'm not sure what the solution is. More sail/electric boats...4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

drinking wine on a perfect sunny but not too hot day, out of crystal glasses, in the crystal sea on a lovely beach on a deserted island....2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Not recommended for those of you wanting 'adventure' as no zip wiring, or bike hiring etc. But it was very easy to do off road buggy riding from the top of the cable car in Dubrovnic. Aida our guide helped us on this but could easily have set it up ourselves as just next to the top of the cable car. No need to bring water shoes as they sell really good ones everywhere for the equivalent of about 5 UK Pounds. You often have to walk across up to 8 boats to get to yours so have to be a little careful but it's not as difficult as I had thought it might be.. Very easy to get cash out - ATMs are to be found in the most surprising places! Very cash orientated country - credit cards not greatly appreciated for payments in restaurants etc.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Well our vacation was very unlikely to have reduced the environmental impact - though less damaging than the huge cruise ships..But certainly helps the local people as often we ate at local restaurants and of course spent some money on their products..4. Yes: the ship was owned and crewed by local people, provisions were fresh and bought locally, there was minimal use of plastic and we called in at small harbours to eat in the evening at local restaurants.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Very highly: the whole experience of sailing up and down the coast visiting the small islands, swimming in warm water, exploring ancient ports is a delight, with the two major centers of Split and Dubrovnik as highlights. Individual ships will vary but ours couldn't have been nicer, with a calm, helpful, friendly crew and a tour manager who knew her stuff. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Leave the everyday behind and enjoy the moment.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I am sorry to say that tourism on a commercial scale like to the Dalmatian coast cannot reduce environmental impact, in fact, just the opposite. As to supporting conservation the vacation itself cannot do that directly and the only way it might do so is if the local and national government use the profit/income from the money spent by tourists in Croatia on conservation by, for example, planting trees and only licensing cruise ships which use the most efficient fuels. The Dalmatian coast is lovely and will inevitbly attract an abundance of tourists like me who love its beauty. Of course, our vacation benefited local people as Croatia relies on tourism as its principle (?) source of income. I was amused to hear the same remark repeated often that people in the tourist industry in Croatia work hard for 6 months of the year and have 6 months off - to tour the World as our tour leader explained. Not a bad life! To answer the question about benefiting the local people specifically I would refer to the visit to Kuna where we had a very enjoyable meal at a local winery. But this was but a bonus to a thriving viticulture business.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
We enjoyed it immensely, but we are very well aware that all tourism comes at a cost. This trip to Dalmatia, althought not as destructive as a huge cruise ship with many thousands aboard, also had consequences for the environment especially as the smaller ships - and we were invariably accompanied by ten or so other smaller ships going to the same destinations - were able to dock at beaches and ports inaccessable to other bigger cruise ships. Environmental impact/supporting conservation - judge for yourself. But no doubt about benefitting the local people financially.David Powell review 12 Jul 2019

Hello Maybelle, thank you for your feedback, I am delighted you enjoyed your holdiay so much. I am a little surprised you felt that your vacation didn't
benefit local people. The vessel you travelled on is owned by a local family, and entirely staffed by Croatians. Additionally you will have eaten ashore at most
if not all of the small ports you visited providing income for the restaurants and their employees, as well as the many local producers who provide the
restaurants and indeed the ship you were cruising on. Your visit will have helped to maintain the small communities on the islands, and also to preserve the

Experiencing new locations. The beauty and history associated with small towns, such as Sipan. Trying new food options. Spending time with friends.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Great place to travel with friends. If on a comfort cruise expect some discomfort. Air conditioning and power supplies from shore are not that reliable. Try the local cruise but don't rock up to the restaurant nearest the boat. Do some research. Seek to purchase genuine Croatian articles. Learn some key phrases. The locals appreciate it. Most Croatian people are open and friendly and many in tourist areas speak enough English to assist you. Taxi drivers are often aggressive and overcharge. Know what the trip should cost you are about to make. Bring sunbathing and sunscreen. Swimming happens every day. Bring your own microfiber towel togs and swimming goggles.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
There is no question that tourism is the major industry and source of income either directly or indirectly in this part of Croatia. Interestingly a lot of the boats are owned by families in a relatively small area. Environmental impacts: The notion portrayed by advertising Is sometimes less than accurate and one would have to be concerned for the likes of Dubrovnik where 10 s of thousands of people arrive every day during the season. Everyone needs to be part of the solution here. We as tourists are part of the problem! The local population is declining to the point where the only people living in the city will be tourists. In the city it feels like a money grab with prices for all attractions going higher but the tourists just keep on coming. Is it sustainable...heck no! The destruction or damage of significant sites, and water pollution caused by tourists in this area is undeniable. The sardine can of Croatia has an undeniable charm but an unsustainable future given current trends.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

We did have a few blips like two single beds and our air condition leaking above one of the beds that we didn't get fixed for two days, however the crew did look after us very well. Hats off to our Captain of the SS Equator and his crew. We had a blast and really couldn't have asked for anything better.Sue Beckingham review 22 Sep 2019

Meeting the other passengers. We were the only ones from U.K. and the rest were mostly from Australia andNew Zealand. Lovely people and good fun. The islands were beautiful as was the weather.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
This is not a luxury boat but this was reflected in the price. Breakfast was standard, lunch three courses and but with no options. We did however thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
It benefitted local people as our evening meal and drinks were bought ashore. The brochure for the vacation advertised that we would each receive a litre bottle of water a day. They had installed a large bottle which was available to all thus saving plastic.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Good. We feel the provision of tea and coffee should have been available all day. Perhaps like a vending machine? Tipping guidelines was a big issue with most guests as most thought it was excessive. We thought the 40euros for port fees should have been included in the priceRuth Samuels review 8 Sep 2019

Just being in the boat - great scenery. Swim stops were lovely2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Bring beach towel and snorkel, although fish life not very colourful3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Locals benefited from us eating onshore every night except one. Negative environmental impact given the amount of fuel used by the boat - boat uses the equivalent of three month’s fuel of an average house in one day!4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Great vacation but let down by food. Great if you like large slabs of meat, highly salted sauces and vegetables and over cooked or tinned veg as well as very very sweet desserts. Would have like a choice of food as we ate on board every lunch time. Would have liked a choice of salads and a choice of how much is on your plate. On the day we had the captain’s dinner in the evening (big slabs on meat again), we had a lovely buffet lunch - only four choices of food - Greek salad, tuna with some green leaves, chicken pasta salad and another salad - but everyone on board said it was their favourite meal of the week. More of this!!Read the operator's response here:
Hello Ruth.
Thank you for your review and feedback. Unfortunately marine electrical engines are a very new technology and as yet are not competitive with diesel engines at this level, though we hope they will be there soon. I think comparing a small ship with a house is a little unrealistic as the ship carries 47 people and moves. However these small ships, by the nature of their size, cover much less ground than their vastly larger cousins. For instance a larger
vessel, cruising from Dubrovnik for a week would typically cover at least 1500-2000 kms, the small ships that cann access the much smaller ports will cover around 3-400 kms. We are very aware of the environmental impacts of travel, and we will very shortly be offering passengers from Europe a package enabling you to travel to Croatia by train, so you won't needto fly to get there in future. We have also asked our ships managers to look closely at the possibility for Electric or hybrid engines, but that will take some time.

Docking at different Islands every day, and making new friends on the cruise.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Tell travelers that there is a shuttle bus to and from the airport at Split at a third of the price of the Taxi's. Also none of the Islands restaurants/bars /markets etc accept credit cards, they all want cash, including the Tour Guides, and the port taxes. If possible when booking the upper deck cabins are much better than the below deck cabins. We felt very claustrophobic down below, and the port holes are tiny and do not open.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes the trip benefited the local people, no to reducing the environmental impact as the ships uses diesel. Not sure about conservation.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
We enjoyed our cruise and learning about Croatia's vast history. The staff on the ship were good and their English also, our tour manager was great and she had loads of information for us. I will mention that we did not find the food in Croatia as memorable.Read the operator's response here:

I am upset and very surprised to hear about vessels discharging toilet paper – If you happened to notice which vessel/s please do let me know. The vessels we work with are all owned by their captains, and they understand that their livelihood is dependent on keeping their environment as pristine as possible, so I would be really surprised if it was a local vessel. As you say the water is beautifully clean but if that was to change then Croatia would fall from favour very quickly. Did you speak to your cruise manager about this at the time?

We upgraded to the luxury option which went to the island of Viz. NOt many boats do. Viz is Much calmer than the other islands since it had been closed to tourism for 40 years. It has a fascinating WW2 and post war history and I'm kicking myself that I didn't go on the military tour. Also in Dubrovnik the thing we enjoyed the most was the Red Museum, near the quayside, which covered the communist period in a fascinating way, with a reproduction of a 'people's flat' as well as covering the darker side of the communist era. Most important it was not crowded. Dubrovnik is beautiful but even off season was full to bursting with people wanting to see Game of Thrones locations.2. 1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
We were on a small ship and loved being on the water sailing along the beautiful coastline...when the sun was shining. Since it was May, it wasn't too hot but we did have 3 days of inclement weather...storms, heavy rain. Of course, that can't be helped, but it meant that we had to stay an extra day in Dubrovnik. We were not very happy with Dubrovnik because it was incredibly crowded with tourists. However, the crew was wonderful. In fact all the locals we met were so pleasant. We enjoyed talking to them.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
I wasn't prepared for the busyness of all the ports we visited. There were so many ships and so many tourists at every island, as well as in Split and Dubrovnik. We found it exhausting and unpleasant to have to navigate the crowds. However, the second day in Dubrovnik we went into the old city early.... Which was a bit better ....and late . At 9:00 pm. The city is quiet, most shops are closed but the bars are open and we heard some good jazz and enjoyed a drink outside. Instead of dining in the old city, we tried a restaurant in the port, near the ship. On the islands, we decided to wander on our own and avoid the laid-on tours. We tried restaurants that were somewhat away from the harbours and waterfront, which were a bit quieter.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Obviously, the tourist industry has revitalized Croatia. There was lots of building and restoration going on...tastefully done. So, I assume good employment opportunities in construction and the hospitality industry. I think the local people are feeling the strain of so many visitors, though. One waiter told us that the people hated July and August with the massive influx of tourists, but quickly added that it provided good working opportunities. I also was impressed by how clean everything was. The streets were spotless...no garbage...the ship was very well maintained. I understand that Bra? limits the number of visitors per day, which is an excellent thing. I dont think environmental impacts were reduced...rather the opposite.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
We enjoyed the week long cruise. We enjoyed the people we met. The Croatian people we met were charming and pleasant and helpful. And the county is really beautiful. I think if we were to go back, we might rent a car so we could explore less populated areas.Read the operator's response here:
Hello Anne. Thank you for your feedback, Dubrovnik does have an overcrowding problem on some days, particularly when the large cruise visit-
consequently the local authorities have started to limit the number and size of vessels that can visit. By traveling on small ships you are minimising this
impact, and also spreading the good that you do by visiting many of the smaller ports that the larger vessels cannot go anywhere near. This part of Croatia
enjoy some of the benefits of tourism, and they have been excellent at avoiding many of the downsides that can occur - such as litter. We do offer a range of
cruises that visit other areas of Croatia but these are much less popular as most people do want to see Dubrovnik as it is such a beautiful city.

Only in a general way. No emphasis was placed on this aspect. But my sister and I realized that tourism is probably essential to the well-being of people living on the coast - the land was arid, except for patches where there were vineyards. I don't know how much fuel the ship used; nor how it disposed of its waste - with 40 passengers and crew on board. How much plastic do we use that could be reduced? Plastic water bottles?4. Thank you for your feedback and I am glad to see you really enjoyed the trip. I am a little surprised to to see that you don't think the cruise will have benefited the local economy. The vessel is owned and crewed by Croatians, and all the food served on board is bought locally.
Additionally you will have eaten ashore on most nights providing income for all the small restaurants and cafes that line the ports, and many of which grow their own produce locally, including wine, cheese and olives.
The vessels pays mooring fees to the small ports that larger vessels cannot access thus helping maintain the ports facilities.

Croatia can get very hot from June onwards which can make walking about and sightseeing difficult. Next time we will go to this area earlier say the end of May to catch easier temperatures and less people. Take a pair of good shoes as walking can be a challenge both in towns and out and about. Food portions can be very large and a shared meal is often enough for two. ATMs are plentiful - euros are not very useful.3. I didn't go on the guided town tours because I'd been there before, but if it's your first time they seemed to give a good introduction to these fabulous places. If you get to Dubrovnik on the early flight, drop your luggage at the boat and spend the morning/afternoon up to the pre-dinner briefing at 7pm exploring the Old Town, as there's only the Friday afternoon and evening free for this, plus the walking tour is Friday at 4pm and this would reduce Dubrovnik time further.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We stayed in some smaller ports and ate locally, plus our boat was owned and staffed locally. We paid the tourist tax and entrance fees for the national parks. The wine cellar we visited was a small and extremely impressive local business.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
My rating is assuming you accept that schedules are changeable depending on the weather and the local harbourmaster's instructions as to docking times and places. Also that after a salad buffet, food at lunch and dinner is 'family service', ie on a large salver to pass round, and there is a pasta or rice dish plus another meat dish, then dessert or fruit.Paul Harrington review 1 Jul 2018

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
The itinerary was great - all of it was memorable. (The 7 night cruise round the Dalmatian coast from Split). Loved being on the top deck as we sailed past the coast and islands. I couldn't jump off the ship so couldnt take advantage of the swim stops (though enjoyed watching the brave ones - the water is cold in May). So a memorable moment was when they took us in relays in the little speed boat to the famous Zlatni Rat beach in Brac. Don't take that off the itinerary!2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
1. No need to overpack - it is informal and you can wash clothes as you go. You can buy summer gear out there cheaply, especially in Split. 2. Later in the season it will be very hot. Be careful not to overdo the sun and to use high factor sun cream. Wear a hat or visor. 3. There is already a warning in the literature for those with mobility problems, but to emphasise, you will have to walk through a number of boats to get on and off. The greatest number of boats on our early season trip was 5, that can go up to 20 in July or August! Can be tricky jumping across the spaces between the boats. One elderly guest couldnt go offshore at some places. 5. Dont be afraid to go alone. I felt very relaxed and everyone on board was great company . With 18 cabins, the ship was a perfect size. 6. I got a cheap flight to Split on the Wednesdayand stayed cheaply in an apartment for the three nights before joining the ship (or you could get a B&B). I booked the flights and apartment online. That worked well. I liked Split a lot and felt comfortable being on my own there. 7. Dont go in July or August - too hot, too crowded. May was nice, though there is the risk of occasional rain. September would be a good month as the sea would be warm.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
1. I liked that the boats are owned by Croations. Our skipper had his own olive trees and we sampled his olive oil. It gives employment to local people. 2. We were given two bottles of water free each day. That is a lot of plastic but probably difficult to find a solution. You do need the water. 3. My only dislike about the trip, which was 5 star overall, was that smoking was allowed on the middle deck in the seating area outside the salon. That bothered quite a few people. You couldnt have that in the US or Australia, where most of the guests were from. 4. Tourism is essential for Croatians but places get overcrowded in high season and locals get priced out of places like Dubrovnik, which has become a dead city in winter. Sad.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Just wonderful. It was one of the best vacations I have ever had. Can’t recommend it too highly. The boat, MS Moonlight, was very comfortable, luxurious even and the crew were excellent - incredibly hardworking. The below-deck cabin was comfortable. The food on board was good. I asked for fish rather than meat and they were fine with that. They even provided gluten-free bread for one guest. The coastline was beautiful and there was a nice mix of historic (Dubrovnik and Split) and conservation (Mijet national park) and small (the little village of Trstenik). The three one hour walking tours added to our appreciation of the towns and all the guides were very good.Johanna Kelly review 28 Oct 2018

Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad to see how much you enjoyed your vacation. A cruise on a small ship in general won't improve the environment, but it
is usually better than a large vessel and various other forms of transport - Especially a flight. There are some benefits in that having more accommodation
available negates the need for building hotels, which can be bad for the environment (Quarrying, transport, building etc). We do try to minimise the
environmental impact of the cruises, for instance the vessels usually only motor for around 4 hours per day - Larger vessel are forced to cruise for much
longer as they can't stop in the nearby small ports.
I believe Responsible Tourism is more than just the environment though - To support the local communities and customs it is important that people do
visit, and how they visit. The ship is locally owned and managed, the crew are all Croatian, and you will have spent a lot of time ashore eating in restaurants

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Chatting and laughing a lot with little groups of people from all over the world, sitting in the sun, enjoying the wind and the sea.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Keep an open mind and go with the flow. Our cruise was very much dominated by a very noisy and physically pushy bunch of 16 Italians (all friends) who made absolutely no effort to mingle with the rest of us. It took the rest of us - a mixture of northern Europeans and Commonwealthers - aback for the first day or so, until we ourselves 'bonded' a bit. There were 2 single women on the trip (of which I am one), and the Italian noise and general bluster was quite overwhelming at times and the group dynamic was greatly affected by it for the whole cruise - I know the Tour Manager and crew found their dominance very hard to deal with.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
In some ways no. My cruise-mates and I discussed things like this and we were, just as an example, appalled that we went through so many small plastic bottles of water (issued by the crew) per day, when there was a perfectly good (but never filled) big water-cooler in the restaurant. Two other niggles while I am here: There were precious few hairdryers (they had all been nicked, apparently by previous cruisers), and when I asked to rent a swimming towel I was told to just use my regular towel, since there were none! So Salty Towels were had by all!4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Despite the above, it was lovely - but it was by no means perfect and only gets four stars by a whisker. The Tour Manager (who thank goodness, given the situation, spoke good Italian) had very poor English, and so lacked the ability to be proactive. He was shy and charming, and did his best to be helpful but struggled a bit - and never addressed the whole group with instructions, so often we didn't quite understand the daily plan which therefore tended to travel via Chinese whispers. By the end of the week we (the English speakers) had worked on Croatian indifference/reserve amongst the rest of the crew, and the 18 year old barman (in his first job) finally cracked a smile! The food, by the way, was pretty good.Read the operator's response here:
I am sorry to hear about the group on your cruise that didn’t mix with the rest of the clients. Usually part of the fun of these cruises is the people you meet on board and I am glad that the rest of you managed to bond after a day or two. It is not possible to vet this in advance unfortunately.
There is an ongoing review in Croatia about how water is provided. Water-coolers have been tried but proved problematic as they can be unstable when the vessel is in motion, especially if the sea isn’t flat. Additionally there is little water available on some islands so there it isn’t possible to collect water locally from the system. I am sorry and surprised to hear about the hair dryers and towels, this is unusual though perhaps better for the environment!

Thank you for your feedback and I am glad to see you really enjoyed the trip. The waters around Croatia are some of the cleanest in the Mediterranean - there is virtually no rubbish in the sea or on the coast (the fact that you encountered dolphins is an encouraging sign) and the captains of the vessels, most of whom own their own vessels, are very aware that their livelihood is dependent on the local environment remaining as pristine as possible. The vessels do recycle - I am surprised to hear that the waste was collected as 1 lot - do you have any more details about this and we will follow up.
They usually recycle glass, plastics, tin and paper where possible and dispose of other waste strictly in line with local rules. I was on a ship myself 3 weeks ago and they were very
careful about disposing of waste and recycling.

Purely by being on a small ship visiting the small ports you are helping to preserve the environment by negating the need for large cruise ships to visit which would entail dredging and a lot of building work. The small ships also provide accommodation in busy times which reduces the need for building new hotels in culturally and environmentally sensitive areas. Hopefully you will also have had the chance to visit Mljet National Park where your fees will

The beautiful scenery, the islands were very pretty. The people on the cruise were very sociable and it was good to chat and meet new people. The staff were friendly and helpful.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
The rooms have twin beds, which was disappointing and they have a large frame around the base so pushing them together doesn't work. On visiting the islands, the boats travel together, sometimes in convoy. I expected it to be a little more peaceful. Everynight, you are berthed alongside another 7 boats and another row behind, which you have to cross to get ashore. This is usually OK, but sometimes can be large jump. Also, some of these boats are partying and maybe noisy until midnight. The boats leave when they say they will, they don't do head counts, I pointed out that a couple were missing in Dubrovnik, they did send a boat back to get them. We asked the rep for his mobile number and they are not to give them out. At the end of the cruise the rep gives his goodbye speech and then reminds you of the tip, no problem with this. He then tells you how much they expect per person, per room one envelope for him and one envelope for the crew. He suggested 100 euros per envelope. This spoilt the last night, people then discussing etc. We left a tip but it certainly wasn't 200 euros.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I felt that the local islands and people benefited from the income. I was concerned about the 16 diesel boats motoring from island to island and also I would question the fact that we were provided with 2 bottles of water per person per day, 32 people per week. If you multiply that by weeks per year and 16 boats that is a lot of plastic bottles, what happens to these? I would hope that you expect your vacation/boat companies to have environmental policy in line with "responsible" sustainable travel?4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
The vacation was very relaxing and very enjoyable. I would recommend to people, but be aware of the number of boats traveling each day.Read the operator's response here:
Carrying water in bottles was an answer to another problem, that of lack of water on the islands of Croatia's Adriatic coast. Everyone is aware it is not an ideal solution and alternatives are being looked at - In fact I am traveling to Croatia this weekend and the use of water bottles will certainly be part of the discussions for next year.
The bottles are carefully and properly disposed of but it would be better if they weren't used in the first place.
The economic benefit to the islands of these cruises is considerable but they don't have the resources on the islands serve all of the visitors that they would like. The vessels themselves provide a solution to the lack of accommodation (only prevalent from May - September) and they are trying to avoid exacerbating the lack of water.

Hello Betsy. Thank you for your kind comments about the crew and the cruise.
These small ships only travel small distances as they can access the local
ports that larger vessels can't access, so they use much less fuel by traveling a much reduced distance.
As yet it is not practical to install electric motors in these vessels though we hope that will become practical in a few years. Using small ships also negates the need for building hotels on the small islands and ports, helping preserve the identity of the destination as well as reducing the environmental factors involved in building. It is also a greener way to travel than for instance driving a hire car around the country, and will also be greener than any flights used to reach Croatia from your home.

I have sent a full comprehensive review re the outstanding service we received on board, particularly with regard to our very elderly gentleman with poor mobility. My lasting impression? ...we were all, including the crew, 'one happy family' having a great time in a beautiful part of the world.Amanda Harden review 27 Sep 2017
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Stopping in a different place every afternoon, getting of the yacht and going to explore the island and having dinner at different restaurants every night.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Take some warm clothes with, as the weather and sea can suddenly change and it can get a bit chilly. Also take comfy shoes for walking and seeing all the different Islands.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, I love shopping, so I supported all the local shops and restaurants.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
It was excellent, I loved it, just not the rough days at sea. I would suggest that the yachts should have a water dispenser on board, I saw it on a few different yachts that we walked throug , but our yacht only gave us 2 small bottles of water a day which was not enough. I would defiantly go again, but would like to be able to chose what yacht I go on :)Denise Taylor review 4 Sep 2017
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Sailing into Dubrovnik and later doing the Game of Thrones tour.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Don't be concerned over the lower deck cabins, they were spacious and you spent little time in the cabin.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We ate at local restaurants which was positive. However we all had 3 bottles of water a day and I wondered if refillable bottles could have been used.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Very good - a great mix of relaxing and sightseeing with a excellent tour leader on the boat.Grainne McEvoy review 3 Sep 2017

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
This was the perfect vacation for our family, some of whom are very active (and could find opportunities to swim, hike, and bike) and others who prefer a more relaxed vacation (lots of reading, sitting in cafes, and sleeping in the sun). We were able to start the day together over breakfast and come back together later in the day and share our adventures. The size of this cruise (40 people max) was great, the other travelers friendly, and the staff and facilities were fantastic!2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Plan to spend some extra days before and after your cruise - Croatia is a beautiful and diverse country!!3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
The staff was really helpful in directing us towards local activities, restaurants, and hidden gems, and in pointing out environmental and historical points of interest. They also seemed to care about waste (e.g., using a single water jug instead of lots of plastic bottles) and conservation of the stunning places we got to visit.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Excellent, I would absolutely recommend Responsible Travel, and our tour operator.Ray Brunsden review 26 Jun 2017
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
The whole vacation was fantastic. The boat ----the crew---the journey---the food-- the country and other passengers from all over the world. The planned journey was excellent----Split-Dubrovnic plus all of the islands.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
The boats are graded eg--Deluxe-A plus--A--B. Decide which package you require, based on accommodation and food etc. I took Kuna (local currency) and Euros. Hardly anyone would take the Euros.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Local people were definitely benefited with regards to all of us on the boats visiting restaurants and shops every day. Local people were so friendly.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

The whole experience was lovely. The crew were great as was the tour rep on board. All the passengers on board from all nationalities joined in and we had a wonderful time together.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
You have to leave the boat at 9am on the morning of your departure so would suggest getting a mid afternoon flight or staying a extra day.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I felt the local people benefited as we called into many small islands and used the facilities i.e. Restaurants shops etc.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
This is the first vacation we have taken of this kind and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The boat was just the right size and everything was clean and you got to know the crew and fellow passengers in a relaxed environment.Lesley Edmonds review 12 Sep 2017

The swimming from the boat in crystal clear water2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Check that the boat you are booked on is suitable for your age and interests.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Without tourism they would have no money. But I hated the "party boats"! These were sometimes moored at night in our vicinity.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Very good excellent boat and great international team of guests.Claire Lloyd review 31 Jul 2017
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
The highlight of the trip for me was walking around the walls of Dubrovnik. The cruise ship, Spalato, was wonderful with a comfortable shady deck where you can sit and watch the amazing scenery go by, or take the sun on the top deck if you are so inclined. Swimming off the boat was another delight.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
The crew and tour guide were incredibly helpful and will do their best to meet special dietary requirements provided you tell them right at the beginning. Be aware that some of the overnight stops (especially Hvar) are very noisy, with party boats and nightclubs on the promenade, so if this is not your thing get a cabin on the lower deck which is pretty much soundproof (and cooler too). We travelled in midsummer and found it more comfortable to stay on the boat till about 8 pm then go ashore, rather than trying to see the sights in the middle of the afternoon. If you want to walk the walls of Dubrovnik (and who wouldn't), go as soon as it opens, 8 a.m. It gets incredibly crowded especially if there are big cruise ships visiting. There are a lot of steep steps, so not great if you have walking difficulties.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Positives: The crew were all local people and all the food and drink served on board was Croatian (delicious). We were encouraged to go onshore and try local wines and restaurants for dinner. The ship was built and fitted in Croatia. Negatives: Each passenger was given two plastic water bottles a day, which is an awful lot of plastic; a central water-cooler and refillable bottles would have been better. I was shocked to learn that the crew and the tour guide have to work a six-month contract without a day off, and they are heavily dependent on tips. I don't call this a responsible employment model. The same shipping line operates party-boat cruises which are basically a lot of twenty-somethings drinking themselves silly and polluting the environment with loud "music" till midnight. Our boat was far more sedate with an average age of 50, but we found ourselves moored next to a party-boat several times.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
It was a fabulous vacation in a beautiful part of the world, and I cannot fault the efforts of the crew and tour-guide to make sure we had a great time. The ship was just the right size (35 guests, 7 crew) and we quickly made friends.Read the operator's response here:
Many thanks for your feedback and we are pleased you had a great vacation.
The plastic water bottles is an issue I am aware of, and I am visiting Croatia in November to, amongst other things, discuss how this can be avoided. There is a logistical problem however as it is not possible to carry enough fresh drinking water on board for the whole trip and water is a scarce commodity on the islands which is why bottled water has been used until now – It is easy to transport and move and is not taken from scarce resources on the islands. The crew and guides do work a long season, but are relatively well paid by Croatian standards, earning well above the Croatian average wage, and these posts are much in demand. The crew are often members of the captain’s family and do often get to go home for a night or two during a cruise.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
The people we met, the villages and small towns we visited and the turquoise waters.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
If swimming is important to you, September would be better. We cruised in May and it was cold. Bring ear plugs because the ship ties up with other ships and the closeness can sometimes be noisy.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
It benefited local people because we spent money in each place we visited. Not sure how it reduced environmental impacts and supported conservation in any way.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
High on the list. The ship was nice and had everything we needed. It was all about the geography and visuals along the way. The reason we rate the cruise a 4 is because of our sleep quality with noise and beds that were not very comfortable. But we would do the cruise again.Rosalyne Payne review 4 Sep 2017
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Hvar- a beautiful town.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
A lot of ships follow the same itinerary so it is not quite so individualised as it sounds. Find out the size of the other passengers parties before you travel, there was a party of 24 on our ship which dominated the ship and made us feel excluded.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
The ship was run by a local company and visited local villages and towns supporting their economy, however these may not always be the places you would like to visit as a tourist. Felt the journey would benefit from being one way as there wasn't much on the return itinerary. It would therefore be more environment to make this a one way trip so that the return trip catered for another group.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Relaxing and got to see places we would not have visited. Quality of food was ok but no choices which was challenging with children. Not a particularly family orientated feel to the trip.Kit Peiter Lund review 9 Jul 2017
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
The isolated, crowd-free swim stops2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Go during low season3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
No. Unfortunately the crew on the ship seemed unhappy, especially the chef, who openly complained about to high workload, being the only one to cook for 30+ people!4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
It was good. I would have liked better cleaning in the cabin and a vegetarian option for the included lunches.Read the operator's response here:
I am surprised that you thought there was no benefit to the local population. All the crew were local people, and all the food and drink served on board was Croatian and bought locally. In the evenings all the passengers go ashore to eat in local restaurants and try local wines and restaurants for dinner – How much better is that than the vast vessels that employ the cheapest crews from around the world and do their best to keep all spending on board the ships?
The crew and guides are relatively well paid by Croatian standards, earning well above the Croatian average wage, and these posts are much in demand. There are around 50 or more of these vessels working in Croatia and most have 1 chef but they do get help from other members of the crew for some tasks. Preparing food for 30 people (breakfasts and lunches) is hard work but should be well within the scope of a trained chef. Co-incidentally 2 of our staff have visited Croatia in the last month and both cruised on the same vessel and there were no issues with the crew at all.

We ended up feeling that a 'cruise' vacation is not for us. Comfort, food and host guide were all excellent and the other 36 passengers were pleasing to meet. But, cocooned in the elegant ship we didn't get any real feeling of Croatia. The coastal strip that we visited earns its living solely from tourism extinguishing local character. One organised visit inland gave us a characterful meal but otherwise it was up to Split at the start of the cruise to show us a wonderful market teeming with local life. What we'd originally been looking for was the simpler style of the Turkish gulet able to explore the smaller bays and inlets. Perhaps, unlike Turkey, there isn't much life to be found on this coast outside tourism?Lesley Mason review 17 Jul 2016
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Swimming off the boat in the beautiful clear blue water in little bays and fabulous food in every town that we visited. The historical town of Dubrovnik is well worth a visit and we plan to visit again perhaps when it is cooler and less busy.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
We stayed overnight in Split on the way out which worked well and allowed us to get to our departure point without having to rush. The walking tour in Dubrovnik was excellent.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We were made aware that the boat was owned and run by a local family.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
The swim stops! They were excellent - swimming to shore from the boat, or simply round the boat in the clear blue water :-)2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
As for a room on the very upper deck - when your mored alongside other boats being on the middle deck means people have to walk past your room on to their boat.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Benefited local people - yes. We visited quiet and small villages - although on one of those stops we ate on boeard so our contribution to the local economy was more limited. Environmentally - not so sure. Two small plastic bottles of water each day, rather than one big one seemed it wasn't as environmental friendly as it could be.... Plus I watched the boys (things that protect the side of the boats from damage when docked) being cleaned with ajax and simply washed into the sea, I have to say I was quite shocked by this!4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
I enjoyed it lots, friendly people, a good sun deck and lots of yummy food!Read the operator's response here:
The people that operate the vessel have an annual company meeting to discuss environmental and responsible issues, and the water bottle issue should be easy to take on board.
