1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

We enjoyed the vacation overall very much, which was helped by the group we were with who were all very easy going. I particularly enjoyed a visit to a pepper farm in Israel, (which wasn't on the itinerary!) the young farmer who ran the farm was very honest with all the problems he encountered- it was so interesting. I also really enjoyed the Kibbutz visit, although it wasn't how I imagined, ie. no longer a Kibbutz in the traditional sense, we sat with the driver who was Palestinian and our Israeli guide, the conversation between them at times was quite heated but gave a real indication of the problems in Israel. Of course enjoyed Petra and good to stay two nights there.

our first guide in Jordan, Awad was extremely good, his English speaking skills (helped by the fact he'd lived in Toronto and therefore understood our needs etc) , he had a great sense of humour along with charm and charisma . He didn't bombard us with information, just told us enough of the main points at the historical sites to keep us interested and engaged. He dealt with everything very efficiently, accommodating individual needs, we didn't have to really think as it was all done for us. Our second guide, Dov, we believe, was drafted in at the last minute it seems against his wishes. Although he was a very nice guy, his command of English wasn't good enough, He wasn't able to answer questions in a satisfactory way. We had to rely on a member of our group who had a Lonely Planet on Israel to gain the information. He wasn't assertive enough to keep the group together and therefore people drifted off. He really didn't know enough about the sites to be able to tell you about them or just give interesting snippets of info. It was a bit disappointing from this point of view, I was also hoping to gain real insight in to the situation in Israel but it didn't really happen. I actually felt for him as I think he was out of his depth.
