Definitely felt we got to know more of Croatia and Bosnia slightly off the normal tourist routes and accommodation, restaurants and rafting etc all appeared to be locally owned and run.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

So difficult to pick one thing as it was all so good, but the white water rafting was brilliant fun. And also, seeing so much of Croatia and visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

The whole trip was amazing from day 1. Our guide Miche made the trip very memorable and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. He was very knowledgeable of the local area wherever we went. We particularly enjoyed being off the beaten track and tasting local food and wines.2. Pack light and bring some layers for cooler evenings. Bring plenty of wet gear as you will get wet a few times, which is all part of the fun of the trip.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

My favorite part of this vacation is getting the opportunity to get off the tourist-track and visit small family-owned restaurants and guesthouses. I also enjoyed trying water sports I normally don't get the opportunity to do at home. Our tour guide Mi?a was incredible and extremely knowledgable!2. Where to start? The excitement began with an unscheduled catamaran trip Apparently, this had been added to ensure we would have at least one decent sunset before the weather was going to change! But the day our guide Micha took us river kayaking down his childhood river topped it all! He knew the river like the back of his hand! Although the water level was 50 cm higher than usual, he got us all down safely. But what time was had by all? Yet his dedication to us as a group and the company to give us an extraordinary experience became apparent when he stood in the water to line up every kayak at the top of a challenging rapid to ensure we took it at the right angle and therefore safely! He worked so hard that day. To round it all off, we had a traditional meal at his childhood home, cooked by his Mum! That day Micha, who was a wonderful guide throughout the trip, excelled and made the whole trip absolutely unforgettable!2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Just go for it, it's an amazing experience! Bring two sets of swimwear; stuff has not always had time to dry between activities!3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Definitely! We always stayed at family-run hotels, ate at small restaurants run by locals and used local companies for the hire of bikes or kayaks.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Absolutely brilliant! Yes, definitely. We stayed at local hotels; ate at family restaurants and took part in excursions run by Croatians. We were careful with our rubbish, but bottled water and/or having water bottles would have helped.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
We loved, loved, loved our guide(s); the pace of the trip; the different activities, locations and people. I would have liked to have had another hour or so in Split as well as a longer cycle ride, but understand that it may have been difficult with timings to get to the next venue/activity. The only real complaint was our particular home stay. The older couple seemed lovely, but the accommodation was not of the same standard as others on our trip. The bathroom, especially, was grubby and in need of updating and the rooms smelled strongly of cigarettes. Seemed to benefit local people by our group staying in a number of different guest houses and going to a range of restaurants that mostly used local organic produce. None of us had cars for the duration, with only a few short trips in the minibus, which reduced environmental impact.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Our goal is to keep our trips environmentally responsible by focusing on human powered activities such as cycling, kayaking, rafting and hiking. This trip does cover a lot of area so van transfers are necessary and our goal is to start using electric vehicles in the near future in order to further reduce the trip's carbon footprint.
Your vacation with us directly benefited many local people: owners of small accommodations throughout the trip, in particular private accommodations run by locals on Sipan and in Korana; our partners in rural areas of Croatia with whom we cooperate for daily activities such as river trips; and finally local families with whose help we provide some of the meals on this trip.

There were two really good aspects of the vacation which made it memorable: firstly, a well-balanced set of varied, challenging and enjoyable activities; and, secondly, our tour guide Mirko, who really made the vacation fun with his good spirit, helpfulness and knowledge.2. Kayaking down the Zrmanja River was incredibly fun. Got to go through some more fun and exciting rapids, but also had calm parts where you could really stop and appreciate the beauty around you. The two National Parks, Krka and Plitvice Lakes, were also incredibly memorable and unique. The color of the water is like nothing I have ever seen before, a gorgeous blue-green yet very clear.2. This is a great trip that has a perfect mix of activities with down time to be able to relax. The trip covers a lot of ground, but you are never stuck in the car for too many hours on end. All of it; I could not choose one place or activity. We loved seeing the beauty of Croatia, from the Elaphiti Islands to Plitvice Lakes and sites in between. The pace and variety of activities (biking, rafting, hiking, sea kayaking) were excellent, and our guides Dino and Tomislav did an outstanding job of adjusting to unusual weather conditions and the interests of our group. Each day was different, and each was memorable in its own way. The food was outstanding as well, and we appreciated the opportunity to try authentic cuisine. Wonderful vacation!2. Pack as light as you can and plan to rinse items out overnight to reuse.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, absolutely. We stayed in local guesthouses, sampled local (delicious!) cuisine, utilized local guides for rafting experiences, and had a chance to peruse local shops and markets for mementos. Our leaders and group members also cleaned up litter at sites in several places, benefiting the local environment. And by patronizing national parks (and paying the park fees), we supported Croatian conservation efforts.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Outstanding in every way. We especially want to recognize our guides, Dino and Tomislav, who were amazing: incredibly well organized, informative, patient, funny, flexible, and excellent leaders. We went kayaking, cycling, hiking and paddle boarding (the latter was definitely the children's favourite) and every day the activities were new and exciting. The adults and the children (14 and 9) all really enjoyed the trip and it was an amazing experience! Our guide, Luka, was very knowledgeable and helpful.2. There were many great moments. Kayaking in the Adriatic was fantastic. Dubrovnik is incredible. The national parks Krka and Plitvice were spectacular. 1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Most memorable would definitely be the stories that our guide Mica told of his life in the country and how things changed due to the 'homeland' wars. This was most significant when he took us to his the monastery in which he was baptised. There was a child baptism about to happen and he was so thrilled that at last families had returned to the parts having fled as refugees when he was young. The most exciting was definitely the lightning strike 20 yards from our restaurant terrace in Zaton Bay. After that all sporting activities were tame!2. Link it to the vacation provider's sailing tour (3 days) around the Elaphiti islands and a stay of a couple of nights in their apartment in Dubrovnok .... We did this and they went together superbly. We also stayed a night in Zagreb at the end. Glad to have done this but equally glad we had only booked one night.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Croatian staff throughout as guides. Local hotels run by locals and restaurants recommended were too. Of course, we don't know the percentage of the money that went to these and the percentage that went to the company. It seemed that these hotels and restaurants were used regularly giving security of income, the guide was certainly well known. Village near Zagreb was unusual. The house we stayed in had been vacated by its owners for it, they spent the summer in a cabin nearby; the guide explained that we should not worry about this as it was the only way the locals could earn enough money for winter fuel for their houses. Oddly they had caterers come from Zagreb.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

It was full of good surprises. The sea kayaking was surprisingly good, with beautiful views and a nice relaxed time in the sun. The river kayaking was probably the best white water, although even that wasn't anything first timers couldn't manage.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Be prepared for early starts in order to get the best out of visits, especially the National Parks. It was beautiful first thing and we got to leave just as the crowds started, which would have really impacted on the peace and tranquillity of the visits. Don't worry about the activity level, no activity was too hard and would be accessible to all. Although be active enough to get in and out of boats with the ability to walk for 3-4 hours.3. Lots of local touches, we got to join a local old car festival, supported smaller 'local' hotels and home stays. This then helped us with extra experiences such as local tips and spirits.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Arriving on Kolocep island, leaving our kayaks behind on the beach, strolling through the pine forest to the most delightful family run restaurant overlooking the beach and enjoying the very best freshly BBQ'd calamari and then completing the days kayaking. Rafting down the Cetina River. Enjoying Dubrovnik by day and night. Exploring Split and Trogir. Kayaking down the Zrmanja river. The visit to Mostar. Everything was great. The guides from Raftrek, Igor and Riba, were superb. They really went out of their way to make it a fantastic trip.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Book with Raftrek. They are based in Skradin in the Krka National Park. We did river kayaking, sea kayaking, rafting, hiking and canyoning. It gets a bit busy with day trippers doing the activities on the river and in the canyon in August. Might be better to go at a different time of year. They will pick you up form the airport, or in our case, our hotel near Split.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
The guides were at least working in the summer. Most said they had no jobs in winter. We were accommodated in a hotel in Skradin. It was not a huge hotel with a swimming pool.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
