1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
The town of Puebla and Oaxaca were great. The cooking class with Oscar was truly wonderful and so was the visit to Mitla and the rug weavers.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Don't go over the vacation season. Unless the people who organize this tour get their act together and offer something viable for the vacations, Christmas Eve and Day are pretty much a total bust re: food experience and anything else printed on the itinerary.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
To some degree, yes. I didn't see anything that reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
This trip was pretty disappointing. The itinerary changed constantly and there were only three of the nine days that were actually as written. We didn't stay at Mizunte. We ended up in Puerto Escondido, never got to the turtle museum and only got the boat trip because we pretty much demanded it. I know you give this big disclaimer re: things change. I get that. It also doesn't absolve you of your accountability in a poorly planned trip where things changed so much we couldn't count on anything. I've been on other tours before. Wouldn't do this one again.Ian Robertson review 25 Sep 2017

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
This was a food trip, and the food was fantastic. Our great guide, Fernando, took us to street food, markets, and restaurants--more than I expected. The cities of Puebla and Oaxaca are beautiful. For me high points were the markets and Monte Alban.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
1) Check the exact date you are going. We happened to be on the one trip that started at a different hotel, and there was confusion. 2) Now there is an overnight bus from Oaxaca to Zipolite (apparently soon there will be a better road). When the guide says take the motion sickness medicine, do!3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
It did benefit local people by our staying at hotels, eating, and buying things. Most tourism creates some environmental impact--don't know the tradeoff about this trip.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Great! I hadn't been to Mexico before (not counting a few days in Cabo) so it was all fascinating. I liked having the focus on food--we tried so many different things, all delicious. There was generally a good balance between group time and free time. The hotels varied in quality, but fortunately went up the scale as we went. The bus system was so good and really more enjoyable than a private van. The one disappointment was Mitla--the guide wasn't very good. I would suggest switching to a good tour of Monte Alban and having the free time where the Mitla trip was, or else another guide.Holiday Reviews
