We have just returned, having had a great day’s trekking with Andrew Magowan Andrew is just starting his business and has not yet worked out a ‘formula’ , but I would certainly recommend him to anyone who wants to go on an ‘off piste’ walk/hike in NI. NB NI is not good for footpaths and generally there is no right of way over land. It is therefore very important to have someone who knows the paths (which are not marked). He took us on a 7 hour, 10 mile challenging walk in the mountains of Mourne. Challenging because at least 50% of the time was climbing scrambling over stones and very steep gradients, and avoiding bogs. See photos. He picked us up and dropped us back at our hotel. He charged £100 per person, provided snacks and equipment, such as poles. Key comments: Very pleasant / friendly Knowledgeable about walks, safety etc Well equipped Not cheap, but a very personal service.
