Yes, it seemed there was a responsible attitude towards impact on nature, wildlife, etc.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Swimming with the Dolphins, the Canyoning experience and the trip to Furnas /Terra Nostra…2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Try a range of things, the island has a lot to offer. Consider using this tour operator as in our experience they did an amazing job - and don’t be afraid to tailor the itinerary as that is possible. Find a hotel in the Ponta Delgada area (although it is in the flight path to the airport in the down time between activities it is good to be able to walk to things - we swam, went to a pineapple plantation, found a small botanic garden, ate dinner at local restaurants in the old town etc).3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I think it benefitted local people because we used a local operator and other providers eg for the horse riding. Supporting local operators and the local economy is the best way to support conservation efforts and drive change where needed. On the environmental impact, we needed two planes to get there, were driven around in transport with a petrol engine and drank loads of bottled water (but the recycling of plastic bottles is a problem for a location like this). As individuals we have a responsibility to minimise the environmental impact of our activities whilst living our lives and that is a hard balance to find… I have no criticism of anything on the ground in the Azores (issues around carbon emissions and plastic recycling are global) so this is an entirely personal view - each year I have decide whether to do something closer to home with a lower carbon footprint or something with a higher footprint which is much more exciting (which this was). I try to reconcile this across the whole year not just the vacation itself - for example, we have solar panels on the roof, buy lots of locally sourced food and keep car miles to a minimum.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
5 Star absolutely fabulous…!!! Sao Miguel is a fantastic location, the tour operator did a first class job of organising the days - it would be hard to over praise that team, they were fantastic down to every individual we spoke to.priscilla n doyle review 16 Jul 2022

Be brave do it all. Maybe pick a hotel right in the center as we had a 15 minute walk into town each time.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Definitely supported local people because the guides were local. It was wonderful to have their perspective and this really added to the experience. They were willing to adapt and had great knowledge of the area and were really rightly proud of their island.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
