1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
The whole vacation was a great experience but the first 5 days with my guide Coreena were the best. The thought she put in to give me a whole Tassie experience - the wildlife, flora, food, history - was exceptional. Her skill with a camera was a bonus, not only did she make a record of my tour but she showed me ,a very amateur photographer, how to improve my skills. I am an elderly lady and had an ankle injury but through her careful planning I did everything I wanted to and was considerably fitter at the end..2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Book this trip with this operator. After a couple of emails and a brief phone conversation she understood exactly what it was that I wanted. She was in touch with me when setting up the vacation and throughout it making sure that all was going well. Her choice of Coreena as my guide was inspired!3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Very definitely YES to the first and last questions. I’m not sure tourism of any kind reduces the environmental impact but that will always be a dilemma.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
One word - brilliant!Graham Pearce review 1 Jan 2023

Hi Graham
Thank you very much for letting me know how it all went. I am absolutely delighted you enjoyed it and that you achieved all your goals! Many of my guests put months and even years into planning a trip like yours. Sometimes the last minute ones are the most successful! I was very anxious that you should get absolute maximum enjoyment and fulfilment from your trip. I know from personal experience how precious the interaction with Tasmania’s natural environment is.
Thank you also for sending the review to Responsible Travel and for giving it 5 stars! One thing I would love to add – you say that your vacation benefited the local people reduced environmental impacts and supported conservation “only in the sense that I contributed tourist dollars” but actually by booking through me and staying in all the places you did, you actually contributed far more than the average tourist, as we are all dedicated to the preservation of Tasmania’s native flora and fauna, not only by following stringent environmental practices but also by donations (for example, I, Inala, Mountain Valley all donate to the Tasmanian Land Conservancy which acquires vast swathes of land for critically endangered species of flora and fauna all over Tasmania) as well as a number of other worthwhile causes and animal/bird sanctuaries, and I am sure you experienced the value of local guides and private wildlife conservation land which have been so important in maintaining the wild populations of species such as Devils Quolls and swift parrots. Certainly for people like Pat and Len, the wildlife conservation has been their overriding passion since the 1980s, and the revenue that their accommodation brings in is used purely to keep that going. Without them, it would be almost impossible for anyone to see devils in their natural environment anymore.
It would be wonderful if I could take up your offer of a short review that I can use as an endorsement for other guests seeking wildlife vacations as many find it hard to believe that I can organise a vacation such as yours when I am not based in Tassie!
Wishing you a very happy 2023!
Susie

Let Susie know what you want to do and see and she will organise exactly what you want.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Fantastic! Susie did a brilliant job in organising everything for us. We would never have stayed in such lovely places or had such great experiences without her detailed knowledge of Tasmania.Marie Savage review 15 Jun 2019
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Waking up to some amazing views in the morning from a variety of places that we stayed in. Seeing wombats and pademelons in the wild. Seeing Tasmanian Devils at Bonorong and Devils at Cradle and being given an insight into the importance of the work at these Conservation Centres. Being in close proximity to the little penguins at Bicheno Penguin Tour without disturbing them. Some great Tasmanian local food. Bruny Island Cheese Company did an exceedingly good ploughmans.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
If traveling to Tasmania then use this tour operator to arrange the itinerary. Susie gave us an itinerary which fitted with our requirements and was helpful with directions, timings for our drives, tips for local activities, suggestions for where and when to buy groceries. Also be prepared for changes in weather.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes - we stayed in a variety of accommodation including hotels, B&B and self catering which were run by local people and not part of any chains. Visiting the Conservation centers and Bruny Island Cruise all supported conservation projects.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Excellent. Loved the island, the views, the wildlife, the food and hardly any traffic! All of our hosts were warm and welcoming.Ruben Gamoo review 1 Mar 2019
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Tasmania is a treasure trove of wildlife. The lodges selected by Responsible Travel were remote and exclusive. The proper way for watching wildlife. At all the lodges we could watch wildlife. Other then a wild Tasmanian devil we got to see all the mammals we wanted to see. Fantastic photo opportunities.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Hire a GPS with the car rental & buy a road map. It will help you explore the smaller unpaved roads. Drive SLOW due to wildlife on roads.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes it did. The lodges were all geared to protecting their natural wonder.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Responsible Travel was amazing and Susie who did our planning was prompt and professional. She geared our itinerary to our preferences very well.Mukund Patel review 13 May 2018
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
All the places we visited were awesome and the itinerary was perfectly planned. Cradle Mountains and the stay at Lemonthyme was an unique experience. At the same time, beauty point was really beautiful and our hosts Barbara and Colin were too good. The great eastern drive was very scenic. We enjoyed the warm hospitality of Jills and Jonathan at Harpers on the beach. The Tasman Island cruise was very adventurous. So I think the entire tour was memorable.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Not to miss the walk at cradle mountains and the Tasman Island cruise.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Overall, it was a happy, enjoyable and memorable tour.Martin Bonnor review 7 Mar 2018
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
So many highlights that this is an almost impossible question to answer but if pressed we would have to say the cruise down the Arthur River with Greg whose knowledge and enthusiasm provided an unforgettable experience.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Try to be specific in where you wish to go and what you want to see and then place complete trust in Susie to sort everything out for you, she won’t let you down.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Very much so. We tried, as we always do, to support local enterprise whether that was in choice of food outlets eg purchase of local cheeses on Bruny Island or visiting small local attractions such as the mining museum at Zeehan. Our stay at Forest Walks Lodge with Sean and Rosemary provided an excellent example of how all three of these aims was achieved, as too was the journey on the West Coast Wilderness Railway which succeeds due mainly to the hard work of local people.4. Superlatives do not exist to do it justice, fantastic, wonderful, excellent don’t begin to sum it up.Holiday Reviews
