1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
We loved it all - the hiking along a canyon rim, sliding down the dunes, swimming in the wadis.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Research first so that you know what you want to do - what will make the trip special for your family. Then let your tour operator know your wishes so that they can help you meet them.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I truly hope so.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
There are too many to mention but overall the trip was wonderful. We had an outstanding time and would return to Oman in a heartbeat.2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
While we loved seeing the countryside, we dislike riding in a car for more than 2 hours at a time in the space of a day. The distances weren't that long and of course were necessary to cover in order to see the sites. Nevertheless, I'd be more discriminating on time spent in the car and ability to move around between longer drives. I'd pass on the first fort, Day 1, and only visit Nizwa instead since the 2 places are quite simliar in what they offer and the Nizwa's displays are more thorough.3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes - benefitted the locals in the villages. The Shangri-la hotel is incredible, no doubt. Not sure we helped the locals while staying there however. It's a machine and well deserving of its oustanding reputation but the locals don't see much of that revenue. We wouldn't change the stay there though - it was fantastic.4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Absolutely wonderful. From start to finish. The alacrity with which people responded to our requested changes was impressive. Liddy was helpful, friendly, thorough and responsible. Our guide in Oman, Saleh, was superb. We learned so much and he answered every question with depth, humor and insight. Thank you everyone!Holiday Reviews
