1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Seeing the animals - often close up

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Be prepared for the poverty and how this might impact on you. also know that there are many stray domestic animals. it appears that life is very cheap - both for humans and animals .

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

It probably benefited local people who were employed in hotels or the parks but otherwise not. Our guide was aware of the importance of conservation and emphasised this. A couple of community based projects gave us some hope for the future of the animals. The local people did tell us they wanted tourists to come to make the world more aware of what was going on in Madagascar and maybe force the Govt into being more honest and pro- active.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Madagascar has been on my "bucket list" for many years so i am thrilled to have seen even a little bit of this amazing country. I may go back and explore further in the years to come. it was a great but sobering vacation in many aspects!! The tour was well organised with a great leader and excellent accommodation given the overall state of the country. A main factor in our choice of this trip was the fact it only had 2 1 night stopovers - an important consideration for us knwoing the state of the roads!!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The walk around Isalo with our fantastic guide Ronald. The national park has a stark and breathtaking beauty which the guide enhanced with stories about the culture that has developed there and the amazing flora and fauna that thrives there.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Go now!

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

I was happy to find that everywhere we went there were local guides involved in our excursions around the national parks. The parks are generally well maintained with good pathways and ambitious staff which takes the conservation very seriously. We owe them much thanks for dedicating their lives to their protection.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

I was totally blown away by Madagascar, the wildlife, the vegetation, the people. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
