Carbon ReductionClient families are booked to travel in groups and transfers arranged to reduce fuel consumption and environmental impact. Tromsø is only a short 10 minute drive from the airport. All activities are delivered by a fully qualified, local guide who knows the area and how to respect it.
Clarion Hotel The Edge, is part of the Strawberry Hotel Group. This company offers their guests the opportunity to select ‘Green Stay’ by choosing to skip daily room cleans. The hotel reduces its use of energy, water and chemicals and donates saved funds to projects which strive to reduce carbon emissions and support for a number of startups that develop sustainable solutions for hotels.
The Clarion Hotel The Edge partners with ClimatePoint. Their goal is to be climate neutral in their own operations, and to reduce emissions in their value chain by 50% by 2030.
Environment and Wildlife
Clarion Hotel The Edge is ISO 14001 certified and displays it’s sustainability rating on its website. At the time of writing, their rating was 8.3 out of 10. In 2019, the hotel stopped using unnecessary plastic products and participates in the Plastic Relay initiative together with Hurtigruten and WWF.
Since 2007, the Strawberry Hote Group has bought "renewable guarantees" from Ishavskraft. Where possible, they have converted to renewable energy sources and several of their hotels have invested in geothermal heating and solar energy.
All cleaning products used by the hotel are classified and they are making a conscious effort to reduce and ultimately eliminate red and yellow chemicals to contribute to a cleaner safer environment for wildlife and people.
People
Local EconomyEvery December, Clarion Hotel The Edge carefully selects local organisations to work with as part of their Lonely Christmas Tree Seeking Gifts initiative. The hotel collects Christmas presents underneath their tree and donates them to disadvantaged children and young people.
Employment, Inclusivity and Diversity
The Strawberry Hotel Group strongly believes in equality. They actively live out their mission in many ways including sponsoring Pride in the Nordics, working with Samhall to create developing work for people with various disabilities and collaborating with NAV and Folkeuniversitetet Sør-East to give job seekers the opportunity of employment.
