Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
Egypt and Ghana are incredible travel destinations, offering hundreds of years of history, beautiful and diverse landscapes, and friendly people. Throughout our operations, both field and administrative, we seek to minimize our impact on the environment. We encourage the reduction of waste in all forms, reusing of resources whenever possible and recycle at every opportunity. We also encourage the use of shared transportation on our tours and by our staff to reduce our carbon foot print. This is because we know the environment is a major component of any local community and any negative effect on the environment would directly have an impact on the lives of the inhabitants of the local community. Therefore we strongly emphasize on the importance of environmental conservation through educational seminars and public visits to environmentally sensitive sites including mining operations and local communities' livelihoods such as fishing villages and farming communities. In addition to this we ensure that all our travelers are oriented regarding the history, culture and traditions of the communities they visit. Each traveler upon confirmation of a tour, receives a copy of our Travel Guide as part of pre-trip documents. In this way, our travelers are fully aware of local cultures, customs and traditions which help to foster mutual respect. Our experienced tour guides are always with the travelers every step of the way to offer additional guidance, advice and information so that the time spent with the local population are mutually rewarding experiences.
People
Our tour is aimed at preserving local culture and giving back to the communities that we visit, while giving our travelers an unforgettable experience. In this tour our African Travel Experts are locals employed from the communities in which we operate. Where possible, we give preference to locally owned hotels and encourage our travelers to patronize locally owned businesses including restaurants, purchase locally sourced and sustainable products and souvenirs and visit local attractions. Thus channeling our collective spend into the local communities.
In Ghana we visit the Kumasi Central Market, the largest open-air market in West Africa where more than 10,000 vendors sell just about everything imaginable. Here our travelers get to interact with the market women and we purchase their locally made food products for our meals which go in a long way to improve the living standards of these market women.
As a company, we rely on local suppliers including transportation companies and expert guides to support our tour and other travel arrangements. This will not only ensure that our travelers benefit from local expertise, but also helps to increase employment of the local people and giving back to the communities in which we operate.
