Vacation information

No Snow?
Our vacations are all about looking at the options of exploring the mountains daily to best suit the weather conditions and we operate our vacations at times whereby natural snowfall is most likely. We have a indoor yoga space for morning classes and everyday we offer an alternative to piste skiing. We offer daily snowshoe hiking or winter hikes, dependent on conditions. We also offer cross country skiing, which is weather permitting and not reliant on snow making facilities.
Diet:
We cater for both vegetarians and vegans.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

MoaAlm is situated at 1800m, it is 2km up the mountain from the settlement of Taurer, a fragile environment which it is our goal to protect.

We are passionate about skiing, but want to offer an eco friendly way of enjoying the mountains in winter. Therefore we are excited to offer our ski touring week.

We serve plant based, locally sourced organic food, and change our menu with the seasons to ensure we are creating as minimul impact on the environment as possible.

Recycling is also a major part of our waste disposal. They only send one bin bag of waste to landfill each season, and are aiming to reduce our plastic usage this year.

Their water is supplied directly from a mountain spring and the heating system is a brand new 'eco' pellet burning system. The P4 pellet system has won many international quality awards in EU and USA, the most prestigious of all are the Blue Angel and the Austrian Ecolabel. Even in winter our south facing position can also provide supplementary energy from our solar bank.

Natural materials have been used in the construction and renovation of MoaAlm where possible and they have been pleased to find a number of high quality, locally produced materials to use in the refurbishment. The local tradesmen they employ are highly skilled, particularly in mediums of local materials.

People

We use only local and knowledgeable guides.

We work closely with the national park in order that we can learn how to protect the fragile environmental around us.

We offer free weekly yyoga and coffee session for local people in an effort to build community relations and teach community about mindfulness.

Guests will eat out for lunch on occasion and one evening at locally-run recommended restaurants. We offer a weekly yoga class and coffee morning for local residents. We support local farmers in taking care of the forestry and the forest tracks around MoaAlm.

The area also has an excellent ski school and advanced mountain guiding network of instructors that guests may choose to take advantage of. All fresh food and drink will be sourced locally where possible.

We will be employ an international team of full time staff who will receive a generous package of accommodation, food, ski pass and salary. Opportunities will also be available through our staff incentive scheme to participate in training courses annually. This scheme is in place to encourage staff to make this a rewarding full time lifestyle choice that can be sustainable rather than just a seasonal short term option.

Local tradesmen have been involved in the renovation of MoaAlm and they have pleased to find a number of high quality, locally produced materials to use in the refurbishment. These tradesmen are highly skilled particularly in mediums of wood, stone and locally produced felt.
