Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

When we travel, we have a responsibility to make sure that the countries we visit are left in the same or better state than we found them. With this in mind, our itinerary features hotels, tours and transportation means which minimize the impact on the environment. We choose suppliers who are dedicated to preserving the environment by minimizing their impact on the surroundings and so we have carefully hand-selected properties designed by sustainable architects, who use recycled and eco-friendly materials. Within this itinerary we have included properties such as Rawnsley Park Station, The Old Leura Dairy and Pumpkin Island, all of which have been designed with the environment in mind and offer eco-friendly accommodation. This way, our guests are minimizing their impact on the environment whilst they travel. We look for award-winning properties with future visions of cutting their net emissions, waste and plastic, to maintain our promise to sustain the environment in the long-term and this is why we have chosen Spicers in Sydney. Aligned with our responsible travel values, we have also selected tours which provide up-close encounters with native wildlife, without impacting the animals in their natural habitat. We also support a charity which encourages guests to take three items of litter from the beach when they visit, to help keep our oceans clean by reducing waste and pollution. We encourage our travelers to travel via low carbon transport to minimize their impact on the surroundings. This trip includes the Indian Pacific, a spectacular train journey via overland public transport, instead of a much less sustainable domestic flight.

People

We promise to have a positive effect on the local communities encountered on this journey. We have used a number of measures to ensure that travelers are helping the local community to thrive, spreading the tourism income to those met along the journey. Our specialists have traveled to all of our destinations personally, meeting and sourcing local guides, tour operators and restaurateurs so that we can support the community and recommend them within our itineraries. When we travel, we seek to create connections and lasting relationships with the communities that we stay in. We encourage our guests to travel respectfully and because of our positive reputation, we are able to ensure that they are welcomed locally also. Our guests are always greeted with the warmest of welcomes at our smaller properties such as The Old Leura Dairy in this itinerary. We have a lasting relationship with the owners and they are well known to us here, as almost all of our specialists have personally stayed at the property and met the wonderful team there. We promise to support the community through the use of local guides and active encouragement to visit local producers, craft makers and cultural attractions, within this itinerary a highlight is the local guiding in both the Flinders Ranges and the Blue Mountains. This trip provides a rich overview of the cultural history and indigenous heritage of Australia in all of the regions visited, to both educate our guests about the way of life in this spectacular country and fulfill our promise to support the local community.
