Beautiful scenery, visits to markets, trying local food. Wine tasting in Ijevan.
The guide was very personable. His standard of English was excellent. He was well-informed, being an archeologist and historian by training, and obviously knew the country well and was evidently an experienced guide. He was able to answer all our questions about history, culture and everyday life in Armenia.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

Wildlife
To respect our environment we inform our tourists how to behave while walking in the countryside, we encourage them to avoid littering, tearing or damaging flowers, as well as to respect wildlife habitats and so on.
We also respect the environment by our working policy. In our offices, we operate mainly with computers. We use emails rather than fax and do not print documents but store them on our computers and in online clouds. All of our invoices, travel information and travel documents to our clients are issued as PDF - not printed on paper.

We always try to limit our impact on our surroundings as much as possible. All of our vehicles are subject to annual eco testing and we monitor this closely in order to reduce our carbon footprint. We do believe in leaving no more than footprints, although this tour actively encourages guests to talk to local people, visit local cafes and restaurants and use markets to purchase traditional crafts.

Waste
We reduce waste and pollution by asking our tourists to minimize the use of plastic bags, plates, bottles etc.

Water
Armenia is mountainous country and is reach in spring pure water. The water that flows here from the tap is clean and drinkable. Also in the capital and in other cities, there are special fountains with drinking water almost on every street. That's why we ask our tourists to use reusable bottles and fill them with water every day, and not buy water in disposable plastic bottles. To be on the safe side we advise travelers to bring drugged or metal filters to be sure water doesn't harm their stomach. Thus, all this helps to minimize littering and plastic use in the country.

Suppliers
We cooperate with suppliers that share our environmental values. We use the services of hotels and guest houses that use solar power to heat water and generate electricity.

People

Friend & neighbours
We always try to work with local suppliers and accommodation wherever possible. Our vacations are focused on contributing to the local economy and minimizing the environmental impact.

Our tourists travel in small groups so they have a minimal impact on the environment as we go. We work with local operator, who employs on our behalf local group leaders, drivers and the local site guides creating vital local employment. On the fourth day, our tourists stay in the locally owned hotel in Goris, eat in local restaurants and source supplies en route as we travel. That ensures that the money spent on this trip finds its ways back into the local communities which we are visiting.

Local crafts and culture
We take our tourists to places where they can buy various handmade local souvenirs. Thus, they can both learn Armenian national customs and traditions and support local craft makers.

Traveling with respect
We always inform our tourists about local customs and traditions, communication issues and rules of conduct in the churches. Thus, we minimize the risk of misunderstanding with locals and disrespectful behavior in religious places.

Thus, during all our tours in Armenia, we are trying to encourage travelers to approach places they visit with greater understanding and respect.
