During this classic tour we will be visiting old towns, ancient ruins, museums and churches with a long history on their shoulders. Therefore, the tour will have a minimal number of travelers (16 in total) in order to protect these sites from mass tourism and from the negative impact it might have.
To prevent buying and using several plastic water bottles, travelers are advised to bring their own water bottle with them. We will provide one for those who don’t have one or forgot it.
The minibus or cars used for this trip are recent models and new, which makes them emit the minimum of CO2 into the air. The visit of the capital, Tirana, is done by walking or renting bikes. Tirana is a very crowded metropole and there are lots of cars in the daily traffic which is bad for our quality of air and climate. Therefore we commit ourselves in doing our part to minimize use of vehicle.

People

When in Shkoder, the group will have lunch at Arti i Zanave restaurant and will therefore help empower women in the area and provide assistance for them since all the profits go to the Center of Anti-violence Services for Women. Travelers can also buy some of the crafts these women have made.

Prior to departure, travelers are kindly advised to read and learn more about the destination, in order to be more respectful of the culture, history and its people.

The booked hotels are family run and we appreciate their expertise and knowledge of the area very much. This means we help family run businesses stay on their feet and probably grow bigger by choosing them as our partners. Meals are planned and consumed at small traditional restaurants, using fresh local products collected from the area around them.

While visiting old towns and bazaars, we encourage travelers to support the local shops by buying something as a souvenir or by sharing their experience back home, sharing photos, stories, practices of how a piece of work is created.

At the end of the trip, the group will receive traditional gifts, hand made from a local shop in Kruja, that employ women in need.
