Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

Alaska is one of the last places in this world with pristine and untouched wilderness. It goes without saying that we recycle to local possibilities and leave our campsites exactly as we found them.

We try our best to reduce single use plastic. This means we have lunch boxes available, drinking water on board and choose restaurants that do not use plastic. While shopping we choose produce that is grown locally whenever possible and avoid packaging. We also shop in bulk whenever available at local stores or visit the farmers market.

Being out in the wilderness also means teaching our guests how to interact with wildlife safely. We make sure to not put wild animals in any danger through frequent interaction with humans. For bears this means for example to never leave any food or trash open or unlocked in our camps to make sure these beautiful wild animals don't get used to different food sources other than what mother nature provides them.

People

We believe that traveling broadens your mind. Group travel allows you not only to encounter the culture of the places you are visiting it also allows you to interact with people from different countries learning about their living experiences. Being out in the nature and sleeping under the stars brings you freedom and may give you different perspectives and views on you life back home.

Being a small family run business, we pride ourselves on developing relationships with the locals, most notably the local suppliers. When we provide accommodations, or even when we go ice climbing, we do everything we can to work with small local businesses. Going shopping, we look for local farmers’ markets to purchase local produce.

If we are providing accommodations, we work with people we know. The activities we provide through third party suppliers are with locals like fishing with Jim Lavrakas or a small family run bear viewing company like Smokey Bay Air. This is supporting the local fishermen culture in Alaska which at the same time provides unique experiences for our clients.

Whenever possible we include local festivals/concerts of Alaskan bands into our itinerary.
